Assuming that these numbers are accurate then 8 million would put us at 2 in the nation. Granted that there are other private schools like USC out there that don't have to report their numbers. We finally have the money, now we just need to polish up the brand and we'll have our pick of top tier coaches.

You’re making a lot of assumptions.

We actually don’t know what our assistant pool is, since we’re a private university. That’s just what one “source” said.

Bama also can probably reel in coaches for less money, since Bama has the best talent in the game and provides better career opportunities right now. So it doesn’t mean they have less money necessarily, they just might not have to spend as much to get the same coach. But they could if they have to.

We do know Bama has a much bigger donor base. And they get a much bigger split of money from the SEC than Miami gets from the ACC. And they generate much more money from ticket sales, merchandise sales, etc.

If you think we’re gonna outbid Bama, fine, believe what you want. But it’s laughable.

Would depend on the contract. General contract principles allow any related job to be set off, but if the contract specifies on-field only, then an analyst could double-dip. HC jobs probably do specify on-field, allowing a guy like, say, Urban Meyer, to double-dip if he becomes a TV analyst.

Yeah, depending on the length of time, I would imagine that guys do not sit there counting down every single day. At some point, by Year 3 or 4, you are probably OK financially to just take the haircut and get back in the game. I think it just depends on each person's contract, the $, the duration, the limitations, etc.

I don't, particularly if the POSSIBLE option/consideration to leave would be "someone offers me a DC job". In that case, Mario probably doesn't want to Mario himself (guy takes job, leaves after 3 weeks for a better job). Yeah, I can forgive, but I don't forget.
