I think the point he is making is that if Briles is the guy then surely Arkansas knows this. Which means Arkansas would be out trying to find an OC. They wouldn’t wait to hire an OC just because there is “plenty of time.”

Does anyone know if Mario and Briles have any connections based on prior stops in their careers? I couldn’t think of any off the top of my head

No they are not going to at first engagement. You get a five star because you have good recruiters and your program is successful. Mario Cristobal was never a stud OL all American like Ken Dorsey was QB, he didn’t coach an NFL MVP, yet he’s still a good recruiter. My point is you don’t know Ken Dorsey will be a good recruiter because he hasn’t proven it. What his has accomplished as a player 20 years ago and coach in NFL now does not equate to signing 5 star players, it’s about building relationship and obviously what goes one with NIL $$

are coaches really designing plays or just copying others? you know they say how the NFL is a copy-cat league. I would say the same for college for the most part. sure there are different philosophies but it once you decide on your identity/philosophy it all comes down to play calling and selection. my gut tells me Dorsey can handle play calling and selection.
