I think he's a better play caller on day 1 than BMac, Coley and Chud. People just do not understand how cerebral and prepared Dorsey is as a coach and person.

You very well could be right. But I don't like any of these 4 choices for play calling. And besides, shouldn't a team aspiring for a playoff spot every season have a proven play caller? Let Dorsey show it somewhere else. And if he is too big for Miami by that point, we can all lament going 10-2, 11-1 or better under Brady or Briles.

these dudes only care about on-the-job training when it’s convenient for their argument.

The other three wouldn't be good choices for OC which is why they aren't even on the shortlist. My point is that I don't even think we need KD to be surrounded by people who have called plays before. He's ready. I've answered this type of post in full way too many times. As has @Cribby and many others btw. I just can't do it again. You may think "a proven play caller" is the only way to go, and that's cool, but IMO letting a guy go who is about to be an NFL OC for all the various reasons smart people choose guys to be NFL OC's when you could get him to drop down to Miami for the love of it would be ludicrous. Which is why I personally will be surprised if he take the job. Only chance is Mario pulling one of the greatest recruiting jobs of his life.

He's a flat-out football brainiac. Goes back to when he was QB at UM. The guy is just naturally smart and processes information very quickly. Everyone always knew he'd be an OC someday.
How is Dorsey as a play-caller? Can he design plays and offensive strategy? The rest of the offensive staff reports to him, how will he be able to handle that duty? That's what I'm interested in. Being really smart and able to process information quickly is good and should be required for the job, but can Dorsey succeed as an actual offensive coordinator? These are the questions. And right now, the answers are a bit muddled because he's never been an offensive coordinator. Now, I also want to add, we really don't know what responsibilities Dorsey has had as an actual QB coach. Maybe his superiors (i.e., Dabol) gave him extensive responsibilities like game planning, play design, and strategy. We don't know. Again, the answers to those questions are muddled. But Briles has experience as an offensive coordinator, and that is why I lean towards him right now.

But here's what I keep coming back to: Dorsey will be an OC next season someplace. And if he's well-thought of by NFL circles, he has to be qualified for Miami. Anyway, I hope all that makes sense.

This thread from a year ago may give some insight on what Mario is looking for at dc, but then again he didn’t hire any of these guys so who the **** knows. Some really good names and some some not so great ones. Let’s hope we are on the right side of the coin flip.

A big callout from me here is that Feldman is someone that is usually VERY plugged in, especially with Miami. He named like 15 names here’s and not one of them was the eventual hire.

Additionally, you can argue that DeRuyter was a let down of a hire compared to most of these names.

Idk if that translates to anything for us but considering how quiet things have been regarding legit rumors for our coordinators, it wouldn’t surprise if the eventual hire was someone no one has even talked about.

I'm with this dude. Dorsey is a homerun for all the reasons he's stated. Added bonus . . . every 5star QB in the nation would want to be coached up by Mr. 38 and 2. Take.
