If Dorsey is hired as OC we should all be ecstatic. The only reason we even potentially have an opportunity to hire an NFL caliber coach with his credentials and ability is because of his ties to the program and Mario. Otherwise someone like him wouldn’t even give a second thought to coming here as OC.
With the money available to hire OC, along with a QB like TVD and the stable of RB/WR on the roster. It really shouldn’t be a very big obstacle getting a proven OC.

A proven NFL OC isn’t taking a job at Miami. I’d be perfectly happy with an OC with college experience like Briles, but I’d take Dorsey over him in a heartbeat. There’s a reason why he’s in line for an NFL OC job next season.

No one is debating that Brady called plays the point is before he got to LSU he hadn't... Right? Brady had to get the chance. Dorsey has to get the chance too. When he went to LSU he didn't have the credentials better than Dorsey. All I'm saying.

Totally agree. And I don't understand how anyone can argue this. Dorsey is a position coach (QB) and Passing Game Coordinator for an NFL team. Position coach. Passing Game Coordinator. PGC means top of the position coach food chain. He has been an NFL position coach+ for 8 seasons.

Brady was an "offensive assistant" for the Saints, which isn't even a position coach. He assisted the WR coach. For about a year.

On an NFL org chart, Brady shines Dorsey's shoes whenever he tells him to.

I know I am just adding to the pollution in this thread but I have had to master the art of scrolling quickly past the inane banter that largely fills this thread in an effort to find any crumbs of decent information.

For the millionth time (@Cribby verified this multiple times yesterday) Hurtt would not be coming as the primary defensive play caller
I heard olb / de and maybe co dc as a possibility. If he’s calling the plays then some **** went haywire Lol.
Brady brought the scheme to Lsu . was a huge part of the game plan and he did call plays on big downs. The oc wven said that. Brady was the brains to that whole thing blowing up as big as it did. That offense was awful before him for **** near a decade. He also took a 23 year old average starter and turned him into a god.

That being said KD will be up for oc jobs this year , if he left the pros it would only be for Miami and his relationship with Mario. That’s it. All things considered this job is beneath him. We’d be lucky to have him imo.

I will riot…. In a bad way, if that’s what happens

Don’t tell the fans we have money and then do that
Maaaannn if Hurtt was hired as DC....they would burn Mario in effigy lol. Mario seems have a little room for error on offensive side. But defense, his tolerances are 99, +/- 1

When he's getting interviewed for NFL OC jobs, one might argue that he's in line for one.

I don't see anybody looking to interview Briles for NFL OC positions. Weird.
that’s the qualification if you get interviewed by the nfl you want them as a coordinator. so you want clint hurtt as the dc?

I'd prefer Briles over Dorsey if I was making the hire. Give me the proven commodity that has called a Top 10 College offence.

I've no doubt Dorsey knows his Xs and Os, but he's been a position coach for 8 years. It doesn't take that long to get an OC job in the NFL if you're highly though of - look at Moore in Dallas, look at McVay with the Redskins and obviously look at Brady with the Panthers.

I hope he gets whatever job he wants in the offseason - if it's ours, great, but I wouldn't talk down someone like Briles just because he never played for us.

This is a strange sentiment that people keep echoing for some odd reason. I personally didn't watch that '01 team so I couldn't give a **** that Dorsey played here. The only relevance to him having done so is that we are likely the ONLY team in college football that could pull Dorsey right now as an OC.

Strawman. You stated he wasn't in line for an OC job if he was coming here.

You're weird, dude.
if he comes here that means he got turned down once again for an nfl oc job.

you asked if briles was interviewed by an nfl team as if that makes dorsey more qualified. do you want clint hurtt as dc?

It's really not a clue...there was a group of UM players back then who grew up together....Earl....Marlin Barnes (RIP)...etc....Earl was Barnes roommate at UM when him and his GF were murdered...It was Earl who found the bodies.

That whole situation still upsets me to this day. I lived in that building a few years earlier as an undergrad, though I was in my third year of law school when it happened. Just heartbreaking. For years, we (UM Student Government) had been asking for more lighting and security in that area of campus. Who knows, maybe nothing could have prevented what happened, but those 1940s buildings were so **** unsafe, in every regard. Happened about 6 months after the OJ verdict, people can draw their own conclusions about the similarities, I always have.
