Today I’m back on Brady. His rumor got sniffed quickly and if Briles were coming, wouldn’t Ark have hired an OC?
Can’t be Briles. It would be very unprofessional to not give Arkansas time to hire their OC. This off-season is all about other people’s feelings and doing things the right way….

Dorsey it is. Let’s wait until after the Super Bowl so he doesn’t have to answer questions during the playoff run.

But then Brady is not currently employed so there would really be no reason to delay announcing his hire. Right now anything is a possibility, but the whole Smith (from Ole Miss) rumor as rb coach may suggest Briles is still possible due to their connection. Dorsey is still possible as well.

The TE coach could also have the special teams, it's not unusual.

For defense you'd have:
DC/LB
DL (Salave'a?)
DB (T-Rob) or
CB (T-Rob) and S (Heyward? Abdul-Rahim?)

Something like that.

Remember, the Head Coach is an offensive guy and will work mostly with the Offensive Line. I don't think you have 4 guys to run the entire defense. Anything is possible, but I'd be really surprised to see 6 guys on the offensive staff (with Mario paying much closer attention than to the other side of the ball) and 4 guys on the defensive staff.

It's what makes sense. Brady has no experience coaching QBs. If you're going to bring in Brady, you're going to let him coach WRs because you'd still need a QB coach. That's too many coaches on the offensive side of the ball. You're not going to have a:

OC/Play-Caller
QB coach
RB coach
WR coach/Co-OC
TE coach
OL coach

You only get 10 assistants, you can't have 6 on offense and only 4 left for defense and special teams.

Whoever we bring in to call plays has to coach QBs as well. That's why it has to be Briles, Dorsey, someone of that ilk.

Or we bring on a GA/special analyst of some sort to strictly help with QBs. Just playing devils advocate but it’s a possibility, other schools have done it.

I agree that Brady likely isn’t coming here, I just don’t believe it’s because of McClendon as WR coach. At LSU, he had the title of Inside Wrs coach while Mickey Joseph was also the WR coach. Lincoln Riley also has been imploying the same model in his offensive scheme.
We only have five spots on offense , the oc has to be a qb coach.

I agree. think we can probably rule out Brady at this point due to McClendon's role and that the new OC will also coach qbs.

That's a good point indeed, I guess will see (sooner or later lol)

Anything is possible. I really like my play-caller to be my QB coach, though. Just my preference. Those dudes need to share a brain. Not that they can't if there's an additional coach in the mix, but ideally, to me, I want my QB to be an extension of my OC. They need to be together all day, everyday. But your scenario isn't out of the realm. I would just be surprised....I'm fairly confident we're hiring a guy to call plays who also coaches quarterbacks.

I don't understand not announcing hires at this point. They have leaks locked down compared to before, but people are actually hired. Even recruits and transfer's being told the staff have kept it pretty tight. I thought Coley was coming, but it turned into crickets for me with him. Their is now smoke on Chud actually being hired instead of just advising as he has been doing. Their would be a real X's and O's hire. I want Rob in the program. I want him collaborating with the OC, QB's and Mario.

I agree, was just trying to leave the door open for the Brady guys on here lol.

To be honest I want the oc coaching qb. That’s my one reservation Brady. I like that relationship and being around each other as much as possoble.

I disagree completely

I think the two offenses I mentioned didn’t have a “TE” coach. I think the TEs worked with the Inside WRs coach since they mainly worked inline. Don’t think it’ll happen here, but I was just referring to how it could still be Brady even with a WRs coach.
