great points, however if i'm a recruit, wouldn't i want to know the guy the guy that's coaching my side of the ball ... build a relationship with him because at the end of the day the coordinator and my position coach are who i'm gonna have the most interaction with, moreso than mario
Yeah that's true about building that relationship. I guess Mario could maybe spin it as "I'm going to hire badass coordinators that will run this type of system and they will come and go, but I'm here and not leaving". I think its a positive to have the OL and WR coach in place since TVD is a known commodity at QB. But I would definitely prefer to have a LB coach or DC to start fixing the big deficiency there.

Fine I’ll take the downvotes. Mario deserves benefit of the doubt from everybody, this isn’t me asking for banners to be flown, but we have important prospects left on our recruiting board, we have a big recruiting event coming up, and we don’t have coordinators, or even most of our staff put together. This isn’t a good omen, there’s no spinning it any other way.
Ok manny

you cold?

So, more are reporting Mario made Briles a significant offer. Are we to believe this was after Candle turned his down??
I don’t believe it. Bigger spotlight and more money. Our Former OC just got one of the best jobs in G5 after 2 years here. He’s been at Arky for 2 years and he hasn’t even been mentioned for even the Louisiana Ragin Cajun gig.

Frank Ponce

This board with near unanimity loathes the idea of a Ponce hire. I acknowledge absolute ignorance with regards to Ponce's ability as an OC / playcaller (and frankly, don't have the time to watch hours of his film to learn).

Can someone who knows a lot more about Ponce educate those of us who don't know sh*t about him as to why he'd be a bad hire?

Thanks. I'll hang up and listen....

He was offered and 'turned' down the Miami offer within 2 hours? Come on man.
No. The offer was reported a day or two ago. For coordinators, offer-to-acceptance/rejection moves pretty **** fast. Can occur same day, usually occurs within a few days.

Not sure where 2 hours is coming from.

W
Mario left being a TE coach here to be the assistant head coach and OL coach at Bama. It wasn't quite a lateral transfer because he went to coach the position he knew and be assistant head coach.
why I said almost haha
