Prefer Candle. Seems to be a better track record despite some Toledo fans being upset this year vs 'where the white women at' briles and his baggage.

Maybe. But I for one would get very annoyed at my employer forcing me to hit the market before they finally pay me what I'm worth. I know it happens all the time. But it does add tension to the relationship and make it more transactional/mercenary.
The leak isn’t from the Miami side and the people reporting it would have no clue. This was Briles last chance at a raise.

Just for context:

Briles’ offenses (& I’m just going to use total O b/c it’s too cumbersome to deep dive)

-Baylor:
2015 - 1st in FBS
2016 - 6th in FBS

-FAU
2017 - 9th in FBS

-Houston
2018 - 7th in FBS

-FSU
2019 - 60th in FBS

Arkansas
2020 - 66th in FBS
2021 - 27th in FBS

Vs. Candle

Toledo:
As a OC
2012 - N/A per NCAA statistics
2013 - 39th in FBS
2014 - 15th in FBS
2015 - 30th in FBS

As a HC
2016 - 7th in FBS
2017 - 14th in FBS
2018 - 30th in FBS
2019 - 36th in FBS
2020 - 13th in FBS
2021 - 37th in FBS

Imo, we legitimately can’t go wrong w/ hiring either or. Yes Briles hit the snafu w/ Taggart, but his entire body of work suggest he’s an elite OC. What a position to be in…hopefully.

Ohio…. State taxes right?

Yeah he’s gonna be making more noticeably here
Is it really that big of a difference? I just did some back of the napkin math and assuming he gets paid 1.5 mil in Ohio and 1.5 mil in Florida the difference is something like 55k. Or are there some other tactics you can pull in Florida to save yourself significantly more?

Yes, you use outdated stats. Like somebody in baseball that hates OBP and prefers batting average.

The rankings were the F+ ranking, which is a combination of S&P+ and FEI, which are two of the more respectable analytic models.

Compounded analytics are valuable and useful. But can get very noisy across competition levels. It's definitely not the end all be all. Analytics have their place in all sports, but are most useful in baseball because of how isolated each individual player's experience is.

Candle's offenses measure out well through a lot of statistical lenses--including Yards Per Play
