I don't know why it needs to be repeated, but Mario has a history of taking his sweet *** time in hiring assistants.

That doesn't mean that aren't problems in taking so long, but Mario's deliberate approach makes much more sense than striking out on all our targets - the reason being that none of our hired staff so far seem to be reaches or totally unqualified. Jim Mastro was apparently our 1st choice for RB coach. When that didn't work out, Kevin Smith became our target - hardly a case of striking out on good candidates.

It wouldn't surprise me if circle back to Briles (Or Joe Brady) if Dorsey (our presumed #1 target) is unavailable.

Exactly, we had smoke screens for the AD and HC hire but nothing, not even some solid rumors, for the OC and DC. They (media) are recycling the same names we are hearing since the beginning hence why I think that nobody knows anything (and that is not necessarily a bad thing).

There was also a difference between the incompetent UM BOT leaking info in a civil war battle...and Mario guarding his own choices...no need for smoke screens.

Everyone in the media is busy googling every assistant coach resume, and then reporting coincidences (shared an Airport Marriott with Mario one time when a bunch of flights were delayed due to a blizzard!!!) in the hopes of hitting the "sports inside info" lottery. Then whoever has the winning ticket will claim that he knew "all along" just like Barry Jacksoff does.

Exactly, they are just playing the guessing game. Just like all of us.

I have no reason to be worried right now, we are in good hands until proven otherwise.

Why rule out Brady? He's still unemployed and he was one of the first names that came up as having some interest.

Didn't think of that but great point - Ken Dorsey has a greater chance of getting an NFL OC job at this point than Joe Brady.

Would it be worth it to miss out on Joe Brady just the satisfy the impatience of posters here?

Field isn’t confirmed on field
TRob likely is because he’s been recruiting but not announced

Salave’a
Mirabal
McClendon
Smith

The rest aren’t confirmed
I don't think TRob nor Field will have to be announced based on already having background checks and being hired previously.

Should be obvious to the most casual observer they are on the staff in some capacity. Do not remember announcements ever being made about hiring coaches already here

You’d think so, but Mario also took took his sweet time at Oregon and hired mostly college coaches. So who knows.
He certainly overthinked when he hired Deruyter. I wasn't impressed with Moorhead either. Oregon was winning because they had more talent than most of the teams they played and yet they still managed to lose to lesser opponents.

Field and Trob have been out on visit’s. Are you claiming they aren’t going to be recruiting at Elite weekend?

whata bout confirmed support staff of Pata, Cooney, DVD, Dennis Smith, Reuben Bain, Sabbath dude, and the assistant OL coach.

seems a lot more than “only 4 coaches”

Would be much more worrisome if all of the big schools filled out their staffs and we were sitting here with nobody. There is bound to be a domino or two to get the whole thing rolling for everyone

The issue with coordinators is they are usually short lived. The Brent Venables aren't common. The narrative is Mario doesn't want to hire people only for them to leave after1 or 2 years. The thing is that is what coordinators do. If he hires let's say Belk, and Belk does a good job well Belk will get a HC job somewhere and be gone. It's rare for them to stay around more than 2 years if they do a really good job at a major school.
