Never made it to Lanai, but I hear there is a nice beach. 85% of the island is owned by some billionaire.

Actually almost the entire island is owned by Larry Ellison (Oracle founder). He is doing all these sustainability and green projects. It's a pretty cool read. There is also a few resorts there including a Four Seasons. But not a ton else.
