i dont care whether he can recruit. we need good, technical coaches that know how to teach and develop. let the recruiting to others.

by the way, i'm not a fan of bringing in Dorsey for the OC job. just want to comment on the recruiting issue
I agree. I would love Dorsey as a QB coach however but that isn't going to happen.

Dude, someone JUST posted that a few lines up and people are commenting on it. Do you not read before you make 10 million hard headed comments or are you just here for the attention?
If Mario is able to hire Derek Mason that would be a Grand Slam hire! I had no idea that Mason was even under consideration. Please please please make this happen.

Lashlee was far from perfect but the amount of **** he gets online is mind boggling. Do these fans not trust their eyes when they see how dramatically he improved the Offense compared to the last 15 years we have had?

I think people somehow forget some of the dreadful offenses we’ve had out here. Lashlee was legit - changed our offense overnight and made this an attractive spot for talented skill players.

Kirby landed Brock Vandagriff last year. You have to think it's only a matter of time before that kid takes over. I expected him to get reps in their blowouts this year. It just never materialized.
He did get reps in some of the blowouts this season.

Everyone kinda laughed at Georgia with their QB situation.

They cant **** it up with this kid. If he doesnt start next season, you gotta wonder if Kirby is the right guy.

Any truth to the mason rumors? Would be a big name hire, but I have a hard time seeing him leave Auburn after 1 year to be DC here. He’s already getting paid well there, and seems like the next move he’d want would be another HC job. It would make sense for him to put together 1-2 more good years at Auburn, and then he’d probably get some HC offers from G5 schools or maybe lower level P5 schools.

The perfect staff

OC / QB Coach - Ken Dorsey or Joe Brady
RB Coach - Edgerrin James
WR Coach - Andre Johnson
TE Coach - Stephen Field or Greg Olsen
OL Coach - Alex Mirabal or Jeff Stoutland

D. Coordinator - Charlie Strong or Ed Reed
DL Coach - Clint Hurt
LB Coach - Michael Barrow or Ray Lewis
DB coach - TRob or Ed Reed
Special teams - Devin Hester
I prefer Dwayne Johnson as DL/DC. Our tackling issues would be solved instantly.

Electric. Miami ties. Played the game. Winner. Ultimate bag man.

No one knows at this point.

Devastating finisher.

SMU didn’t hire him as their HC because “hE sUcKs bRo!” There was a sh*t ton of options they could’ve gone with to be the successor of Sonny Dykes, they picked him for a reason.

Then people say it was all TVD, but have no explanation for how we went 8-3 with King.
I was hard on Lashlee and I do agree he's a good coach.

As he's a good coach, I was particularly frustrated by some game planning/play calling as he had the ability to scheme up some great stuff, but he definitely mixed in some total dumbassery. So all in all, he was definitely a good OC for us but I feel he could have been excellent if he had been better in parts.

I also think he'd have made a much better HC here than Diaz, which isn't saying much I know...

I actually think Lashlee is going to be a better head coach than he was OC- especially at a good "fit" for him like SMU.

Like you said, good OC but with some flaws and definitely would've been an upgrade over Manny but wasn't ready for a job like this and is taking the correct career path and one that Manny would've been better suited to have followed.

And you have to ask yourself why that is. There was plenty of opportunity to get reps. Kirby just never pulled the trigger.

You joke about this, but Dwayne would be an AMAZING recruiter.

If Mario hires enough coaches for dual roles, then we should consider burning one of our assistant coach positions by hiring Dwayne. Give him an Ed Reed job and use one of the Mas PJs. Dwayne just needs to show up for football games and in-home visits. We'd have the #1 recruiting class every year...
