Your response doesn't make much sense to me. Slow and thorough aren't mutually exclusive. You just suggested a reason for his slowness—he's thorough.

He could make elite hires. He could mediocre hires. But the quality of the hires is irrelevant to the point I was making: Mario is slow at making hires relative to most of coaching peers (perhaps because he's thorough), so we might not be waiting on an NFL guy (as the poster I replied to suggested). Rather, he's waited this long to hire college coaches before.
Semantics. You can be slow because you are indecisive. You can be slow because you are thorough. You can be slow because you failed to convince guys to join. There are many reasons to explain why it hasn't happened.

Nobody knows why it is taking so long. That is why many of us are worried and (unlike others) I believe a worthy topic for debate. Ultimately, however, Mario will be judged by the quality of the hire. It will either justify the lengthiness of the hiring process or not.

But...yes...he is slow.

Yes you can be slow for many reasons. True, we don't know why he's taking so long. Also True: I never suggested why he was taking long and that wasn't the point of my post. The point of my post was not about why he is slow (which for some reason you keep talking about). I was simply pointing out that he's slow... so that doesn't necessarily mean we're waiting on NFL guys... as the poster I replied to suggested. Rather, since Mario's slow (for x, y, z reason or reasons), and he's waited this long to hire college coaches before, we may still end up with college coaches when the dust settles...

Your response about why he he's slow/judging the quality of his hires is irrelevant to the point I was making lol. If your response was aimed at the poster I was replying to, then that makes more sense.

Understood. Thanks for clarifying.

Lmao at the end of the update the mod goes into depth about Golden and how he would love to represent a program like Notre and even put down some quotes from ppl that have coached with him.

-“Man, the guy is fiery. He’s passionate. He’s a great defensive mind,” said one source on Golden. “He also does great work in the home with kids.”

“He’d be a great hire for a variety of reasons,” said another source on Golden. “First, he’d be a former head coach who has been through it all and he could aid Marcus in a lot of ways as he gets his feet under him. I can’t tell you how important that is and how valuable that would be. Secondly, he’s very well-liked and a well-respected coach by just about everyone you speak with. I mean that. He’s someone that people have always enjoyed working with. I also think he’d kill it with the ND logo on his polo.”

Things are still fluid when it comes to this role, so we’ll see where Freeman decides to go. My way-too-early feeling is here to keep a very close eye on Golden for the job. But in digging around, all four of the candidates would do well in this role. However, the more I hear about continuity and consistency, as well as the positive comments regarding Golden, to me, he’s the most intriguing option of all because like Freeman, he could be in it for the long haul and that’s a major plus for the future of the program.
Golden makes sense for ND given how inexperienced Freeman is. Bringing Belk in, despite how good he may be, would really be stacking up the inexperience in the ND coaching staff. So they should take Golden and we can take Belk!

Moving from the Medical Team to an on the field position. Domers thinking outside the box.
