Who’s stopping him?

Are fans never allowed to ask questions or consider possibilities?

The two names to have been offered have both turned us down & the other two NFL names in Joe Brady & Ken Dorsey have seemingly made it clear they’re sticking in the NFL. Brady actually had his agent tell Schefter a month ago he wants to stay in the league, but at least on the Dorsey front we haven’t heard anything official although it appears he will stick with Daboll.

So are we not allowed to talk about that, or is it problem for us to maybe discuss other options?
Yea Brady wants to stay in the league but still doesn't have a job yet....

Why are we acting like it's a foregone conclusion that Freeman is going to be successful at Notre Dame? I'd pump the brakes on that assumption real quick. Kelly is a massive douche but it's not insane to think there could be a post-Jimbo FSU style drop-off in South Bend- especially if Freeman loses some games early.

At least Mario has a track record AS a successful head coach, his seat here is going to be verrrry slow to ever actually get realistically hot AND he's not a coach with a defensive pedigree so our next DC is going to get the credit (or blame).

A DC at Notre Dame will at best share the credit but still take most of the blame.

I am frustrated because I think Mario is putting too much pressure on himself and creating unnecessary obstacles right out of the gate.

I have no problems with 5-hour interviews. I have no problems with Dorsey being his favorite. But then the leak of Candle's name BEFORE getting a signed contract was a big issue for me. Rightly/wrongly, we all know that perception can become reality. Being "rejected" by what appears to be our "first choice" now shifts a lot of leverage to the next guys on the list. ****, Kendal Briles alone might have both screwed up AND parlayed his way into even more money from Miami.

Unforced errors are killers, whether it is an OL jumping the snap count, or Mario allowing the names "Candle" and "Briles" to get out into the atmosphere without binding and enforceable contracts.
Thats because Candle and Briles was both interviewed but was never told they had the job. The OC was done a long time ago....informally. Those guys didn't "turn" Miami down as they were never officially offered the job....

Yea I’m not following that logic either that ND is the better job for 2-3 years …

Who is their TVD? We’ve got athletes everywhere too. A first time HC is suddenly better to work for than a proven Cristobal?

Battered wife syndrome is real on CIS…

It seems a lot of connected people are very confident that Candle was offered the job and turned it down.

Exactly. Freeman is a charismatic dude that's now a media darling and was a fast-rising coordinator. Those are all easy things to fall in love with but can super quickly not mean **** too. We've seen many many "superstar" coordinators come crashing back to Earth real quick as head coaches.

So you're saying we are waiting around to see if Brady gets offered another NFL job

Where are you getting this?

Would have been our DL coach if Salave’a didn’t come.

Mario didn’t think Joe would follow because of the culture difference.. he came down for a bowl practice and stayed the weekend and said he was comfortable and wanted to come.

...I'm assuming you quoted the wrong post here
