Posted this in the other thread.

Gaby trippled down that miami will not be hosting Solomon Thomas.

“I was assured that there has not been comminication with Thomas and it was made clear once again this morning and Miami is not pursuing Thomas and that he’s not visiting.”

I would not sweat high school recruiting for oline.
If Mario and Mirabal see a high school kid they want they go all in on him and his family.

He may not be what they want at this time or are keeping it quiet out of respect towards he and his family.

I also would not be surprised if a bunch of dudes on other teams want to transfer in here.

There hasn’t been a game this year where the oline hasn’t been praised by the commentators.

Yeah OL is the one area Mario and them get a ton of leash. They recruited 2 5* players out of HS. One has locked down the RT position 2 years in a row, one has barely played. THey have proven the ability to ID and get effective transfers, Lee, Cohen were very good. Bell looks to be falling into that mode and Carpenter has been a pleasant surprise.

We are also developing underrated guys such as Cooper (low 3 *) starting 2 years in a row and McCoy low 3* who worked his way to a starter this year. It really is a nice blend of 1. high quality talent out of HS; 2. proven players from the portal and 3. development of guys who were ranked low but had tools and measurements.

I doubt FSU would be dumb enough to fall for that.

I don’t think there’s many flip candidates from that FSU class remaining, which should tell you what Miami thinks of their class.
You may be giving Norvell and FSU too much credit for having any brains.

Nerdy ******* wanna play with other nerdy *******...just what it is

Wait, are you actually saying FSU is nerdy? Those hicks don't even know how to spell nerd. ... Meanwhile, we have a 5-star who had a 4.6 GPA and graduated a year early along the D Line.

I haven't looked at his HUDL. But if Mario and Mirabal want him, he needs to be a Cane.

Where does Thomas start? If Cooper declares?
I don’t think we can role with a true freshman Center. Maybe with time but we need to go get a veteran and we should be able to attract the best center in the portal given last two year success.

I would love to think Anez is coming back but I doubt it given our NFL draft luck the last decade with who goes who shouldn’t.

They were dumb/desperate enough to fall for it with most of their current Dlinemen

I get why some kids might want to go to another program if ours is so stacked in the trenches they won’t see playing time for a couple of years. After seeing guys like the younger McCormick and Donaldson rushed to play early, I think it usually stunts their growth to be starters out the gate. Guys like Cici or Bain are incredibly rare. But that’s not how many Top 100 kids think, especially with their entourage counting on them to be their money pot.

Mario and Mirabal know how to handle that. My guess is they see that as a self selection criteria and don’t worry if the recruit decides to go elsewhere. It means they didn’t have the team mentality and coachability in the first place.

He or his agent probably put it out there that he was considering a vist so they could pick up a nice "stay home" bag from FSU.
Nice thought but if im FSU, im not falling for the NIL hostage takeover chirade anymore after what Payton, Farmer and Jackson did to them. I think they are going to reassess how they deal with NIL dealings moving forward. An OLineman isnt going to put Ws on the board I dont care if hes a 5* or not. Cam Ward has proven you put the majority of your NIL budget into a top flight QB and go from there. FSU would be crazy to give this guy a big bag.

Unless Thomas is the 2nd coming of Cici, he’s not starting as a true freshman at UM. And we know how rare the Cici’s are. And we know from UM’s own experience with its other 5 star that just being a 5 star is only half the story.

I’m with you that if Thomas expects to start as a freshman, he isn’t coming to UM.
