SOFLA YOUTH FOOTBALL IS corrupted..

You’re missing the point.

Some people are using the excuse of certain parents/single moms being impoverished and that’s why they do this with their kids.

My point is that for many of these parents, poverty is not the issue, so it's not an excuse or a reason.

How much money you have or don’t have can be irrelevant to how corruptible you are.

Not sure how your conclusion, the last sentance, differs from what I said. I don’t mind argument just for the heck of it, but would like a little more delta to make the effort worth while.

He is moving the goalposts and creating a straw man argument per usual. The parents excuse is not poverty. Firstly, they don’t need an excuse due to someone’s sour grapes and fake paternalism.

Their motivation is to an individualist and opportunist of the human capital their household has established. They’ve been shown via first hand American history/experience that exploitation and opportunists are and will continue to be a daily and lifelong fixture in their lives and the lives of their children. They are good students who have learned to benefit from a game neither owned or made by themselves.

If you are a tough guy poster (not you GatorHator), then make a post calling out the Game Owners and Game Makers, that would be the true alpha thing to do. Constantly picking low hanging fruit while acting tough and “moral” is extremely beta.

Looks like you are in tiff with some else. As to me, your description of parents behavior is interesting. Can’t say I disagree but then again I can see places to do so if I was being paid to do so. Since I’m not, good hunting.

Not really sure I was disagreeing, but I wasn’t sure you were following what I was getting at. But thumbs up for the appropriate use of delta🔺.

Lifetime of law, finance, corporate board bs and M&A scars one, but thanks. I was attracted by what I suspect was dictum rather than your target.

Exactly, whatta pathetic, short-sighted, sour grapes, and self-righteous thread. Lames have a fake issue with the mothers and fathers who have bled, sweat, and shed tears to feed, clothe, protect and make their children happy getting monetary benefit from them before everyone else unquestionably will.

They love capitalism and the free market until those pre-determined to be at the bottom learn how to maneuver within it. They never post going at the Game Makers or those who have established, cultivated and modeled this opportunistic culture that these parents are mimicking.
I don't live in the City. I have no real exposure to the realities of youth sports or to the hard times of people of very modest means (nice way of saying poor). I just know about the youth sports from what I read. I only know poverty by driving through it on the street or seeing it on TV or reading.

I hate the corrupt system of college athletics but deep down I know what it must be like for the parents of kids we lose to the Bama's and Georgia's. I can't blame them or judge them.

I'd do the same thing.

When you can't pay the basic bills, almost anyone can be a little bit corruptible, especially when you have kids. Taking a few thousand to have your talented son go to a certain youth team is not really that bad compared to a lot of other forms of corruption.

2 parent middle class homes taking the bag also. Let's stop this bs narrative about single parent homes.
What exactly is "middle class"?

Middle class in South Florida might still be a lot more modest than middle class here in DC area, especially with relatively stable and well-paying government employment.

Wow!

When did playing football for money become prostitution?

I’m not a fan of paying kids because I believe it to be a slippery slope.

But parents taking money for their kids to play a sport they would normally have to pay for, themselves, isn’t pimping. It’s good business practice, and demonstrates common sense by the parent.

How they spend the money might be up for debating their character. But taking the money isn’t a character issue, at all.

There was a video some years back that highlighted the gambling going on in the stands during pop games. We’re talking $10,000 on 5-6 year olds. And kids transferring high schools every year, why do you think that is? It’s the worst in Miami, that’s why we lose so many kids to the bag, it’s not a farce. And the old adage, parents want the kid to go away, hmm wonder why?

Yeah because all these people pimping their kids are setting up trusts for the kid and putting all the money in there.

If you’re using your kid to make money for you, then you’re garbage. It’s pretty simple. There are complex issues and simple ones. This one’s simple.

It’s the American way.

And transferring from high school to high school. At least here in Virginia you have to transfer out of district for the academic specialty not for athletics.

Probably explains why Central Boys Club was always stacked when I played them in Optimist a hundred thousand years ago. We held our own but they were something. We'd go to Cutler Ridge and there would be 500 plus in the stands for a 135 pound game. Crazy.

those central boys club kids were tough.

irony was the Miami Shore teams in the 70's were always great too.

It takes a ton of assumptions to make this topic simple, like assuming how people spend the money or assuming their socioeconomic status prior to accepting it? U see how a person feels about a people when they dismiss context and ignore nuance when evaluating issues that impact them. Liberal minded in their own lives but conservative and hard-nosed with everyone else’s.

Then there’s the ridiculous implication being made that if a mom or dad receives money or a good paying job due to their child’s football talents, that those perks don’t directly impact the kid’s life as well. As if the parent takes the money and disowns the child forever and they don’t also benefit from it. If my mother is taken care of then I’m taken care of. If my dad receives a good job due to my talents then my life is exponentially made better as well. Since when do parents not share money and material gain with their children? They did so prior to the child’s success at playing ball, so why would they stop now with more money and opportunities being made available, especially made possible by and due to the child’s abilities. This would make a parent want to buy their child even more ish.

We beat them regularly, but then I didn't play against Freddie Miles until my senior year. Dude was a stud.

Freddie was a Central Boys Cub kid?

Didn't know that. Still holding to my thesis he was the GOAT.

Well, Don Bailey, Jr. was a Miami Shores kid, so there you go!

I was younger than they were, but I also remember the Northwest Boys Club kids: Brett Perriman, Melvin Bratton, and others …. I'm dating myself, I know!

'Chise is right.

These parents have achieved perfect synthesis: they're both pimps and whores.

Anyone who would use economic circumstance to justify moral depravity is pretty much running with the flow of the sewage. Zero sympathy, and even less indulgence for that conduct.

Like how ******* HARD is this to understand. Well said Chise.
