Significant changes in attitude and

In the last two years, Miami had enough talent and depth to be better than 120th and 90th on Defense. Talent and depth doesn't justify our players not being in set on time for a play, constantly looking confused, lacking communication, missing tackles and playing in a complex system. It is mind boggling that these issues continued to get worse as the season went on last year. That is poor coaching. Plain and bleeping simple.

Would you want Butch back, yes or no? Again, he went 0-12 against the three schools I listed before breaking out in year 6. Rebuilds take time. And yes, we'll know more after this season. This is the first year we're not starting mostly underclassmen. That makes a difference, does it not?
Ok? A large post defending Golden wasn't necessary. Relax. We know you're a fan of his.

I'm just saying if he fails this year and proves he's not the answer, you don't retain him for fear of not finding better. That's loser talk. That shouldn't and doesn't go on at big time college football programs.

With the sanctions clearing and bringing in a top flight recruiting class (misses be damned its a great class) the Miami job will be as coveted as it can be this offseason should Golden sputter again. I know our track record blows lately but it doesn't change the fact that we would have options after the season.

You have some connection inside the admin that has told you this?

Without getting myself into trouble, I work in the President's office and my roommate works in the athletic department.

Gonna need a little more that just your "word", it is the internet and I don't believe everything in it without proof.

Isn't that avi a pic of you? ijs
Many others have heard similar from posters that are in the know. That leash isn't as long as you think it is.

if he isnt on the hot seat now, then fold the program. *******s first 3 years have been horrible. we have been destroyed and embarrassed countless times. even Randy had us competing with good teams and sometimes beating them by his 3rd year

******* gets blown out every time we face a decent-good team. it is beyond pathetic.

and dont give me the BS that ******* had a tougher situation. the 2007 depth chart was putrid. a punter was playing WR for christs sake and we had KW and KF at QB

Agree with you 100% Bigtip. Seems like we settle for mediocrity.

Golden is not Butch Davis, or Parcells or Billicheck etc. He is Al Golden. He has is own record and none of it says he will turn out like any of the afore mentioned. Those other guys are ruthless and not bound by personal relationships. They do what's necessary.

Clearly then football is more than just getting bigger and stronger though that can help. Not sold on our defensive scheme because I think our players have to think too much, it's too passive, and our blitzes to predictable, but we have much better talent in some key positions so I'm holding out hope that it will improve considerably over last season.

I want to believe, but I feel like we say the same thing every offseason. Then the season starts and our D gives up 500 yards and our "massive" o-line gets stuffed in short yardage situations.

add me to the list too, i dont believe any of this hype bs i want to see results

Unfortunately I've bought in to this before from Golden and co.

I'll wait until I see the team on the field before deciding whether the attitude has changed.

Excuse me but what exactly did you buy before?

That's the problem, you probably had some unrealistic expectations set on the team when you really shouldn't have and now you feel jaded.
No, we were not going to win the ACC in any of the 3 priors years.
Yeah, last year the Coastal was in sights and it sucks as **** that we couldn't find a way to win it. Golden does deserve criticism for how the season ended, but go back to before that season and many were predicting 7-8 win season with the highest anyone was putting them at was 9 wins. Well guess what that's what we ended up with.. So again, what the **** did you buy before?

I had realistic expectations of a defence that wouldn't give up 500 yards to everyone.

Literally, everyone.

Are you under the assumption that yards count more than points?

Put me in the camp that expected a somewhat competent defense.

Not me, you or anyone else expected to have some of the worst defenses in our programs history.

We were historically bad. Was our talent, the cloud, any excuse that you want to use that bad to be historically inept on defense since Golden came here?

We had bad teams with Coker and Randy. We had horrible recruiting, entitled kids, kids not working hard etc... under said coaches.

Were we ever this bad on defense? Were we this bad on defense in 97 when we were playing walk ons?

You may give the coaching staff a pass but I certainly don't.

Golden has been nothing more but an average/below average coach so far in his career.

Louisville will tell us everything we need to know.

I'm guessing we will give up a sh*t ton of yards on defense again and make virtually every QB look like the second coming of Andrew Luck.

I hope I'm wrong.

Again, I could care less what you expected. And trust me I too expected more from the defense, a lot more.
And yes, our talent was that bad. So was our depth. Offense not being able to convert on 3rd downs didn't help.
I've reconciled all this against my expectations and accept it. You obviously still haven't.
But in spite our "historically" bad defense ( which I think some folks are forgetting JJ's 84 defense), we won 9 games.
Funny you brought 97 WHEN WE ONLY WON 5 games. what the *** do I care that we didn't have a historically bad defense that year?
It's like some of you would have cared less what are record was as long as we fielded a top 30 defense.

You don't care what I think? I'm hurt dawg. lol

I brought up 97 because we had FAR worse talent and still managed to do better than your hero.

We weren't just worse or bad but "historically bad."

I'm glad your happy with the results so far even though we managed to beat 3 teams with a winning record (all 7-6) last year on route to 9 big wins!

Woo hoo!

What the **** happened to our fans?

Allow me to say a few things on behalf of "talent". Talent allows you to be creative, to explore in different directions, eliminate, and add cohesiveness to any team.

Judging the coaches, the players and the overall make up of the team that is based off past years is not fair. How do good teams become great off of talent? Restored talent helps you to become great, as you win it gets better. As you plug in a creative system it becomes better with the new talent.

We may not get three to four five star talent a year but we have been getting the four star who thinks they are five star talent. Can we coach them to five star talent, yes we can. As long as the athletes believe they are getting better in the system their confidence rises therefore their talent rises. Let's start thinking positive rather than ***** 24/7 about what happen last year or the year before.

Are we out there with them? Can we change what's about to happen or the outcome of the season? Allow these kids to be just that kids that love playing the game for our entertainment and enjoyment. Pressure on ourselves or these kids is not good, control what you can and don't worry about what we can not control.
