SI ACC Preview. They have us at 4-8

Spence, Olivier, Brandon Washington, Benjamin, Streeter, Ray Ray, Lamar, Fortson....Everyone of those players were the best at their position and we lost them...

Spence is a legitimate loss, but we're better everywhere else in the LB corps.

Vernon was suspended for 6 games, and did jack **** when he came back.

BWash was mediocre at best at tackle.

Benjamin and Streeter were productive, but I expect some other guys to step up (we had to replace Hankerson last year).

Ray Ray missed 4 games, and sucks.

Lamar was a gamebreaker, but he wore down as the season went on. Plus Duke is a dynamic player.

Forston played like 3 games last year, and he played them on roller skates.

all those reasons is why we sucked 6-6 last year.....

Ray Ray sucks and yet is the best tackler we had at safety
Bwash was mediocre and he was all acc b4 the season and iof he came back would be a starter and best on the team
Fortson played 3 games and he was still hands down better than any dt we had..he was the strongest on the team last year
OV did ****? lol he went 2nd round..dude was the best against the run better than chick..

Ray Ray was not the best tackler. Telemaque was more reliable. Ray Ray was routinely out of position.
Bwash would've been all-ACC at GUARD, not tackle.
Who cares if Forston was the strongest when he played 3 **** games? He didn't play well when he was in the lineup.
OV got drafted off potential. He had 18 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 6 games. That is not irreplaceable.

We went 6-6 and lost 4 games in the last minute.

We are not worse than we were last year.

Our DL is an upgrade for the simple fact that we actually have some DTs to throw out there. Do people not realize the only true DTs that we had, that played all year, were Smith and Regis? Forston played 3 games(and was never 100% for any of them), Porter 2 games, Robinson 0 games. Other than Regis and Porter, we had nothing but oversized DEs masquerading as DTs. If you don't think having some real DTs would have helped, just watch any game where we got our **** pushed in and could never make an easy stop when we needed it.

that is true very good point...but what dt's do we have now? we have 2 freshman in the dam 2 deep...really?we still got olsen pierre at DT starting!! he is a de fellas!!iCurtis porter still hurt? dammit mane

You may think telemaque was better but he really wasnt..ray ray was still considered the 2nd best safety coming back this year..yea he was out of position but he still made a lot of tackles..
if bwash was so mediocre how did he start at left tackle? why not linder or any of these other guys who are supposedly better than him?

You win you made some good points that i didnt realize about our d line.. BUtt sorry if you think kacy rodgers is gonna be better than ray ray, or if you think shayon green is gonna be better than OV..i have to disagree...you realize we have thurston armbrister starting at LB? We were never predicted to go 4-8 in years.. you gotta realize we are in uncharted waters

Ray Ray had 34 tackles in 7 games. Telemaque had 59 tackles in 12 games. That's essentially a wash, and Ray Ray played closer to the LOS.

Bunche and Henderson were both banged up last year, which is why Washington had to move to tackle in the first place. And he got moved probably because he was a very good guard. But being a very good guard doesn't make him a very good tackle.

What did we have last year in the 2 deep? One 270 lbs DE and either one of the 260lbs true freshman.

Rodgers may not be better than Ray Ray, but he doesn't have to be. My point was we're not worse "everywhere". Teams would never improve if the replacements were always significantly worse than the previous starters.

Who cares what SI and others predict?

Going into 2008, we were in MUCH worse shape. We were coming off a 5-7 season, and were forced to rely on a bunch of freshmen all over the roster (including QB and basically all of the WRs). That team also had to learn a new defense. And let's not forget Patrick Nix was OC.

We STILL went 7-6.

BWash is an excellent all-ACC type guard. However, he is not a very good OT. I would hope we see an upgrade at LT over last year.

We'll throw out and depend on a bunch of freshman and sophomores who most of us have yet to see play at Miami. We'll have guys basically at every position who are green and inexperienced. With the conference we play in and the level of talent of the younger guys, we could be very good, but right now there is no way anyone should think or expect we win more than 6 or 7 games.

4-8 is a bit low but honestly it's not that far off...

Group 1: Cookman and Duke are wins

Group 2: UNC, USF, BC, and GT will be tough games that could go either way but we should win. I think GT might actually be favored going in. The only reason I am putting them as a should win is our past with them. It will be a road game, they had a better year and return more.

Group 3: ND, UVA, NC State we'll most likely be underdogs

Group 4: K-State, FSU and VT are top 10-15 teams and we'll be underdogs

I think we go 6-6 and like last year compete in every game. The young guys get a lot of experience and we are set up to have a very good year 2013.

Yea you make good points Ill fall back..but returning starting juniors & seniors is one of the biggest factors in predicting wins and college football... and we are lacking big time..and the ones we have (TeleMAque, Pierre) are average players

This.

I remember the last 5 years, getting annoyed by all the hype in the media... "is this the year Miami will be back?" blah blah blah

They need to earn it

I love these low expectations! Let the whole country sleep on MIami

you all need to slow the puck down as if this nimwit Corey McCartney from SI knows what puck he's talking about. He doesn't.
This is the same clown that left off RG3 from his preseason Heisman watch list that included Taylor Martinez.

No way in **** this team wins only 4 games. Not even 6.
More like 8-9 at the minimum with 10+ a very very likely.
We improve on defense and the most important position that determines success and that is QB.
So just sit back and STFU and enjoy the season.

This.

I grow weary of hearing how we lost SO MUCH TOP TALENT!

We may not have top talent this year - but I think that losing that 'talent' was a big plus. At least we know we're starting from **** near scratch.

This is just not very bright!

My most likely, in order

6-6
7-5
5-7
8-4/4-8
9-3
3-9

I know everyone says I am way too negative, but 4-8 is just not a very good pick. It's probably the fourth or fifth-most likely.

Here is mine

Florida State 7-1 11-1
Clemson 6-2 9-3
NC State 5-3 9-3
Boston College 3-5 5-7
Maryland 1-7 4-8 Wake Forest 1-7 3-9

COASTAL Conference Overall
Virginia Tech 6-2 10-2
Georgia Tech 5-3 8-4
Virginia 4-4 7-5 North Carolina 5-3 8-4 Miami 4-4 6-6
Duke 1-7 4-8
