Okay so.... If not having a DC is that big of a deal, it's really no point in taking this last visit. What else new can be said? I mean, we still don't have a DC so Shemar is coming to hear what? Mario talk about stuff that doesn't matter? I mean if having no DC is THAT important.....

I'm sure that Mario has plenty more to say. He's trying to build a relationship with the kid and earn his trust. There's more to sell at Miami.

Shemar's relationship with the other kids could be a selling point as well.

I don't think "Not having a DC" is killing us but its a little bit of a handicap in recruiting for the kids that it matters to.

Right, I don't understand why not have a DC in place means that much. Any coach can leave or be fired at any time during he time at whatever school he chooses, so then what. Transfer???? If he decides to go to Georgia or A&M because of that reason then he was never coming to Miami. PERIOD!!!!

I a weird way... Like very weird way.... This makes me think he is actually coming to Miami. I believe the "theme" of this recruitment lately has been to make it seem like we're still playing catch-up and atm is still in this invisible lead. It's going to be alot of "50-50" talk after this last visit. Watch.
He not leaving Grandma. The new regime gave him a reason to stay when he was looking for one all along.

I think the kid wants to have the DC look him in the eye and tell him that he will use him as a DE and not as a DT. I think its stupid since his body type screams inside rusher on clear passing situations but he wants that assurance. Pretty sure A&M and Georgia are telling him whatever he wants to hear.

Sat down with a UGA coach today, and a few high school guys, including one of Shemar's former coaches.

They don't seem to think he's headed to Miami. Nobody at the table did, and quite a few of them are connected. 🤷🏻‍♂️ UGA coach thinks it's down to them and TAMU.
At least one person seemed to think that Miami not having a DC yet is playing a part.

Don't shoot the messenger.
You know how fluid this recruiting stuff is. Let's hope Miami can pull it out.

SIDENOTE: He weighed in at 290 during his visit.

As of now all signs points to him headed to A&M.

Hypothetically speaking, if he chooses ATM or UGA what would you point to in being the biggest determining factor?

Can’t be bags since we know we’re dropping bags nowadays.

Found the interview on 247

Miami Monsignor Pace High School DE Shemar Stewart is a huge priority for the Miami Hurricanes in this year’s recruiting class.

And this coming weekend will be make-or-break for the Canes’ chances with an official visit upcoming.

But there’s another factor that is just as much make-or break: A defensive coordinator hire.

Pace High DL coach Moe Marquez, who has served as a mentor for Stewart and is accompanying him on his visits, says Stewart would not be comfortable picking UM on signing day if a coordinator is not in place yet.

And Marquez told CaneSport Stewart won’t be waiting past signing day to make his decision.

“Once you sign there’s no taking it back, and for Shemar it’s Miami has to bring in an actual defensive coordinator because they don’t have one and he needs to know the lay of the land,” Marquez said.

A big issue for Stewart is some defensive coaches think he might grow into a defensive tackle or even play tackle in third down pass rushing situations … but he wants to be used solely as an end. The coordinator will have a big say in that, as well as what type of overall scheme will be utilized and how the ends will be used.

Marquez says Mario Cristobal is well aware of the issue for Stewart regarding the lack of a coordinator but has given no assurances a hire will be in place by signing day.

“Shemar is just one recruit, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference (in getting a coordinator hire in place soon),” Marquez said.
This is all posturing imo. This information being out there gives a reasonable explanation that puts the blame on CMC if Shemar chooses other than UM. It also could be to build suspense which would seem more likely the thought of Moe than Shemar as he is apparently a soft spoken kid.

How else could Moe show his face in South Florida football if there wasn’t a plausible reason that he could go elsewhere. But remember this is a kid that loved being here under an apparently underwhelming Manny recruiting experience back in June. The local distance has to be playing in our favor here. The familiarity has to be a benefit too. Hoping that this weekend knocks the cover off of the ball and that he realizes that CMC is an honorable man of his word and that his position coach puts kids in the league. And then the DC becomes irrelevant (and yes, I would like it to be announced too but I hope that in absence of it that it is an excuse to give Moe an out if Shemar decides to go elsewhere).

Alot of posters on here have PTSD. Still think we are wheeling and dealing in the minor leagues. This is what big boy recruiting looks like. Mario was about to pull in a top 5 recruiting class at Oregon if he didnt leave for UM. This guy isnt new to this. Hes been doing this since the days of pulling Calvin Ridley to Bama when Mario was on Bamas staff.

He steals the cake from under the bakers thumb. He bakes the cake and gets two of them for one. He moves the weight likes hes Oprahs son. Hes gonna show you how to do this SON!

Strap in..enjoy the ride.

Ask yourself why the top programs load up yearly at certain positions.

Top players want to go to the schools, that win, compete against the best, be a part of special recruiting classes, and get coached up for a shot at the next level.

If you're an alpha who believes in yourself, those other cats getting signed don't matter. You'll put in work, get coached up, go against serious talent weekly in practice, and get your chance to shine one day.
What was ATM’s record for the past few years? Sure they are SEC and what has our record been, but I would hardly call them a winning program/culture. UGA, sure. Bama, sure. ATM, agricultural school in college station, TX, and you want to study marine biology? I question that move all day.

Length of time of recruitment is the only factor besides the DC factor (which I do not believe myself is the reason but the excuse if he chooses elsewhere for Moe to save face). We just got back into this on 12/8 when Mario was hired. A month and a half is all we have had to do this work. I remain hopeful that the draw of playing for the crib and being close to grandma and Moe remains alluring. I still don’t understand for the life of me, given ATMs recruiting at DLine for the past few years, how they remain attractive for a kid like this. So much going for him if he chooses us, so many questions if he chooses ATM. I do wear green and orange glasses and expect a turnaround under Mario, but what has ATM done with Jimbo at the helm and all of their recruiting success? That leads me to believe that time of recruitment is the only factor.

I wouldnt even say timing is a legit factor because Mario pulled Jaleel Skinner at a moments notice and Skinner didnt even have a prior relationship with Mario like that.

So all the excuses are out the window IMO. We wont be outbid so bag game isnt a reason. We have a track record of sending DEs to the 1st round so he will be coached up in a 4-3 system... The young talent we have on defense is undeniable. And he knows guys like JW, Kam, Wes and LT can ball.

Now if he just wants to leave the area, then fine. No love lost.
