Based on what evidence? Remember, we're speaking objectively here. There's no excuse for the middle of the field being wide open play after play or why a simple pass to the flat ends up being a near 10 yard gain.

Im not going to agree with ANY defense of Randy SHammin. Guy was HOT GaRBAGE and destroyed this program. BUT, Coach D has not impressed me thus far. I WENT TO THE MAT to defend him last year, but so far, Im not impressed. Look, I understand the guy is fielding a glorified HS defense out there. There is NO experience, leadership or depth on the D. We have NO DL. BUT.... we looked like a monkey f*cking a football out there late in the 4th. PLAY after PLAY guys were out of position, confused, bad substitutions, late plays being called, guys not lined up over and over again. Im sorry, but that sh*t is UNACCEPTABLE.

Im not throwing the guy under the bus. He's got a real bad hand to play this year. Lots of young talent, but VERY inexperienced.

I will say I thought the DBs played decent today overall. VT is what he is. The guy is mediocre and cant cover for sh*t. I thought McGee played well enough, and the youngins look like they have a LOT of potential. Im also REALLY impressed with Denzel. That kid is a future All american here. He will be better than Sean Spence. Mark it down. He is bigger and stronger than Spence. Did a REAL good job in the middle today, that kid is going to be a beast. But the DL. OH my dear GOD that DL. There is no way you can be called ANYTHING but sub par with that horrific DL. Denoforio needs to figure something out FAST or we are going to get demolished up front by some bigger OLs.

This. These posters refuse to face reality that Shannon's horrendous recruiting left the DL devoid of talent and depth. Buddy Ryan couldn't do much better w/ the players donofrio inherited
 
Shannon was a great D coordinator, but he had some players. Give Dnofrio some time and he might too. Stupid comparing the two.

You all need to chill a minute.
This was the 1st game of the season on the road playing a solid BC team with a Big OL and good QB.
Meanwhile our instate friends start off by playing a preseason game vs Murray State and Bowling freaking Green.
As we saw last year, the defense steadily improved as the year went on which I expect the same this year except sooner and better.

I have no problems with folks bashing DOnofrio. He deserves it for today's game.

My only problem is with agendapushing Shammin slurpers. This ***king clown couldnt even get a DC gig....he went from head coach of a BCS team to LB coach of freaking TCU - what is that, a 90% paycut??

At the end of the game, as I was yelling "cover the f'n running back out of the backfield", I thought I saw D'Onofrio tell Cornelius the same thing. Definitely missed assignments.

I felt the same way, though I gave him more of a pass on the scheme early on when I realized just how attrocious the DL is. To his credit, he did take away a lot of the routes BC was running. The LBs were making good reads and disrupting lanes. Stuff we never saw in the Shammin days. 2 years ago BC would still be running slants on us for 1000 yards.

I was more concerned with the entire D looking lost and confused late in the game. Play after play guys were not lined up, plays were coming in late, guys were confused, out of position. I think the backfield is actually improved over last year, the problem is, if a QB can sit back in the pocket and LITERALLY not break a F*CKING sweat, but have 8 seconds on every play to find a receiver, he's going to be successful. I mean guy could have been sitting on a Lazy-Boy and reading the paper back there our pass rush is so pathetic.
 
I actually think coach D'O isn't getting enough credit for getting the D to settle in on the fly with a lot of young guys. The proof positive is that the D was a lot better in the 2nd.

yeah.......he was so good he is now the LB coach at TCU. Good one.

I thought the Defensive scheme was garbage. That needs to change. Thank god BC WRs had butterfingers at opportune times. They were wide open all day.

DL isn't going to get any push this year unless BC OL is really good.
 
while I HATE sitting back and getting dinked and dunked up and down the field you have to give the D credit for not giving up back breakers or even many big plays. the also caused a lot of fumbles and did very well in the redzone

that is very encouraging. but the play in between the 30s is frustrating. we need pressure form somebody on the DL

Why is anyone talking about randy when our d just gave up **** near 500 passing yards? Randy is gone. Get over it. Coach d needs to b more aggressive.
 
If Shannon DCs this game, we prolly lose it.

I'm highly dubious of DO's abilities, but I'm pretty sure he's much better than Randall.
 
We look lost when we play zone D. I hate when we play Zone.
 
I find it odd that a former d coordinator like Shannon would let the defense fall apart so badly by not recruiting it better.
