Wtf is this dude doing? It's like he's scheming for pop warner. Last year I refused to believe our DB's were as bad as they looked, and I again refuse to believe our DB's are as bad as they looked today. Seriously. Someone please defend Ohno'frio and tell me what he does so great?

They're not as bad as they looked today. But usually, in your first college football game, you're going to look pretty bad at a position like DB.

VT and McGee just suck and always have.

Based on what evidence? Remember, we're speaking objectively here. There's no excuse for the middle of the field being wide open play after play or why a simple pass to the flat ends up being a near 10 yard gain.

Last year, Donofrio turned the worst collection of garbage scrubs into a ***king top 20 defense. Shammin would have been 1000000000x worse.
 
Corch D does seem like a joke at this point. Why are the defensive players scrambling to get into position right before the play starts? Totally unprepared at times.
 
I expect them to get better every week. Coaches always talk about a big improvement from the first to second game.

And yes, NO ONE is happy with this performance. If you want to bash Donofrio go ahead. But dont be so ***king retarded to say that Shammin would have done ANY BETTER. lol.

First, Miami was ranked 45th in total defense last year so I don't know where you got your information. Second, at this point, trying to put the blame on the players is ridiculous. I find it hard to believe that no one at Miami knows how to cover the middle of the field, or the flats, or how to defend a slant route, a screen or a quick out. Our players are almost always out of position. Same deal as last year; I swear whenever an opposing TE/WR caught the ball they did so without a single Miami defender being within at least three yards of them and that's not an exaggeration. It's the scheme.
 
Randy Shannon was one of the best defensive coordinators in the NCAA and is not easily replaced. Not many coaches put up stats like Randy. I would not judge him based on Randy because that would not be fair

Coach D has left a lot to be desired so far. Ill reserve judgement for now bcuz we need more talent and we have no pass rush.
 
Unless you're going to give coach D Ed Reed followed by Sean Taylor at safety and a dominant DL where you can only rush four guys every play then the argument is pointless.
 
The Dline sucks. Of course the secondary will look terrible with the Dline we have. They will improve and it will be the young guys that take over. I've given up on McGee, VT, shayon Greene, etc. they are not the future and after watching today's game the future is bright. Once golden gets some dlineman in this recruiting class it will be on.

How quickly the OP forgets Shannon's performance against UVA in last game in Orange Bowl.

Try 47-0 and Virginia ran 4 plays over and over LOL

lol. That's why he got all those bigtime offers as a DC last year, right?? Shammin was absolute garbage in every way - he is a LB coach for ***king TCU now. Couldnt even land a DC job.

I expect improvements but it's going to take some time. Chase Rettig threw for 441 yards, imagine what Logan Thomas/Mike Glennon could do.
 
I just think we're very young and when you get no pass rush these things would happen to any defense let alone ours.
