My takeaway from this is last year, Miami was destroyed by KSU and ND. They were physically dominated. The defense could not stop them and the offense couldn't get much going. I think the defense, at worst, will be at least above average. Golden and Coley need to put in a lot of work to get Morris on the same page with his receivers. I know Florida was a tough defense, but the offense really didn't seem to have its way with FAU either. The good news is they have a week off, then a good game to keep working on the offense with Savannah St.

I will say that the 'direction' is what concerns me. That's why I used the language "is being proven" and not "proved." Again, something to focus on going forward.

I just find it a bit comical that this board has destroyed coach D for a long time now and yesterday our defense wins the game against Florida. Now, we are right on to Coley.

I agree with the U- tough comments. Our guys were visibly stronger than last year. However, what most impresses me was their obvious conditioning. Our defense was still bringing it strong in the 4th quarter in unbearable conditions that had u*** players panting on the sidelines. To me that was a huge difference maker. After last year's defensive efforts what a joy to watch.

That's exactly right.....and SF Bay has been ball buster #1 on Coach D.

I'll reserve my judgment on Coley until he has his power back in the rotation (Gus, someone else, etc).
It's clear he wants to run the ball to open up the pass.

Fisch knew how to pass to open up the run. The WR combinations yesterday were very boring and predictable. As most have mentioned we didn't use the middle of the field hardly at all.

We need a big back in the most desperate way and Gus is coming.

PS: Notice the play-action TD to Dorsett was a result of Duke running well early on. UF safety was stuck in quick sand with his eyes in the backfield and the rest is history.
Run to open the pass. I can dig. Give me run blocking big nasties up front and more big RBs.

Not a knock on Coley at all, but I do agree with the folks that think Fisch is a QB's best friend. He was far from perfect (is any coordinator?) but his success with our QBs, especially considering circumstances, is undeniable.

You can wait to judge the play calling and each coordnator but one thing is for sure about this years team and that is we are very physical.

Agreed, same thing goes for D'nofrio's as a world beating DC now. We have 10 more games to judge both of them

I disagree with the downplaying of coach D, this was a big sign of being an almost completely different defense against a top opponent and our guys on D looked up to the task to execute everything that Coach D called and we saw his actual style of defense finally be equipped pay huge dividends. We had no games like this defensively last year or the year before that

My take on coach D has been exactly this: We could not evaluate him fully over the last two seasons because of the lack of talent he had to work with. You will not find a single post where I said anything more than "I have concerns..."

Learn to use language efficiently and you wont come off like an ignorant ***.

Yup. Besides just having different personnel last year, what we were doing on D was totally different.

Florida would have beat us by 40 last year.

I give Coach cred for what happened yesterday. Still far from perfect and taking off for the NFL as the next game changing DC. Yesterday is one data point vs all last year. We have 10 more games to see the over all improvement.
