SF High School Games - Week 2 Aug 30-31

Its very difficult for Miami Dade kids to commute to STA, at rush hour (school time) you are looking at an hour each way if they have transportation. If not its almost impossible to connect via public transportation. In the old days some kids used to go from Miami High down to Southridge and viceversa, there are busses and the metro rail that feed that area. A kid could make the drive for their senior year otherwise its hard. Go by Columbus after school and you see some of the football players taking long drives or buses back to their homes it adds stress to their high school experience.

Don’t know about recently but in the mid 90’s Miami High was recruiting my brother and offered to put him in a house close by with other players and an assistant coach.

STA now allows these new transfers to do "home school". Their recruiting will ramp up a bit. lol

I guess that’s why the great defender of STA’s transfer rep was so adamant that they don’t accept transfers since they dont actually have to step on campus.

If kids had to stay at their home schools it would make things real interesting/entertaining in Broward County.

would be extremely interesting .....more so like when we played in high school.

Broward is different than Dade where the talent is deeply centrally located...Broward has talent in pockets..spread out.

Plantation would be back on the map, Dillard would be really good again (though they still produce div 1 ath at a big clip), One of the Hollywood teams would step up.... Miramar would still be Miramar. Miramar doesnt really get transfers much outside of their area other than the Carol City Kids they get every year. Im guessing schools like Piper and Boyd Anderson would see an uptick in wins.

People look at me crazy when I say this because they don't know about the kids who live in their boundary...
But Western would be a state title contender.
Their talent at OL and QB would be unmatched in Broward.

Would love to see this actually.

still wont have enough on defense to contend. They would have a good ol and good qbs. When i first entered hs they may have had one of the biggest ol in the county then...thats what they were known for.

Yeah you're right about that. Not a lot of great defensive talent in their boundary.
We were able to field some good defenses while we were there though, with crappy talent. You can scheme your way into a decent defense. At least until you get deep into the playoffs.
South Florida offenses are not coached well enough to expose you on a weekly basis.

Milton beat Archer during week 1 of the season. I am a bit surprised by their success, it isn't exactly a football producing hotbed.
I'm surprised by their play, this is my part of town, both of my kids graduated from there recently. They've always been okay, but Roswell has been the better football school in this area lately. I'll have to make an effort to see a game this year, sorry I wasn't home to see the one this past week.

how did he play?
I'm not sure how many tackles but I know he had a few. He faced multiple double teams but he was still able to he apply pressure on the QB. Some of his plays are here.
Beast mode‼️ - Elijah Roberts highlights - Hudl

I’m excited to watch the development of Derohn King, Deerfield Beach QB ‘20.

He makes that team really dangerous with all the skill talent around him.

Definitely something to watch considering we may get two qbs in 2020 if we don’t go for one this cycle
