Senior Bowl Reports

****, blame it on Al and Kehoe. And, of course, Swazey.

According to various media reports this week, our boys aren't helping themselves in Mobile. Unflattering reports on Morris, plus Atlanta paper ran a list this morning of 5 most impressive and 5 least impressive players (Falcons staff is coaching in the game). Henderson made the least impressive list and it was mentioned that, along with his play, he didn't pass their character test.

This is from a Detroit paper . . .

Negatives

Seantrel Henderson had more issues today. I counted three false starts not long into practice. He also got burned around the edge by a Trent Murphy speed rush when getting to aggressive with his feet and not staying patient in his pass set. Inconsistent as ever.

Henderson’s partner in crime Brandon Linder had a couple of poor reps. He’s still struggling with pad level and bending at the waist. He was unable to anchor a bullrush after giving up his chest on one occasion, getting dumped for an easy “sack”.

In addition the panel discussion mentioned Henderson losing his lunch on the 50 yard line after a practice.

I don't think Henderson helped his cause during the game. Just the opposite. He did fine in interior run blocking, often teaming with Linder, but Henderson was abused by quickness several times. Chris Smith beat him with an interior spin move and Dee Ford flashed past him to the outside.

Early in the second half, Henderson adjusted nicely to Ford's wide set. Ford was setting up several feet outside the tackles to get a burst upfield. Henderson started dropping his right foot earlier in anticipation that Ford could only go outside. That worked several times and Henderson completely neutralized Ford.

But just as I was getting the idea that Henderson was settling down, the South put Kyle Van Noy opposite Henderson. Van Noy is not as explosive as Ford but he's a lot more versatile and cerebral. Sure enough, Van Noy played Henderson for a sucker and it worked on the first play. Van Noy feigned outside, just like Ford, and Henderson bought it completely. That allowed Van Noy to quickly dart to an inside rush and beat Henderson clean. Van Noy smothered the quarterback for a sack.

Henderson had so much trouble with speed in that game that it's hard to see any NFL team trusting him as a starting right tackle anytime soon. He won't be picked as high as some were estimating a day or two ago. He might have to be hidden inside even though he's quite tall for a guard.

Linder was tough on run blocking but the Princeton defensive tackle exposed his lack of athleticism and beat Linder cleanly for a sack.

Morris threw two interceptions and overall didn't look great. On both interceptions there was a bit of an excuse. The young receiver didn't cut inside decisively on the first one, and the second one followed a slip by the receiver on his break.

Reading these scouting reports makes me feel that we really aren't losing much.
Truly looks like it being addition by subtraction.

Guarantee Henderson still falls around his 3rd-4th rd projection...lock it in...

Seantrel is Phil Loadholt...look where that kid got drafted.....This yrs Tackle crop isnt that exciting...and to tell the truth the only true reason he would drop on somes draft grade is the weed stuff.

Him gettin beat by the guys he may have gotten beaten by aint all that much considering those names u named may be the best pass rushers entering the draft next to Clowney in my opinion.

Henderson to me atleast looked better than the other tackles on his squad at the game...imo...

Linder looked to me as expected...think they both looked pretty good in run blocking.

Both will be midrounders...with Seantrel likely going higher if he doesnt bomb @ Combine.

NFL guys love those dimensions...and generally think they can work on his "consistency" and "technique"...
Phil Loadholt is my comparison and he does a good job in Minny.

I agree with you...3rd or 4th round. But he could have cemented 3rd round and threatened 2nd round with a better performance in the game itself.

The rush guys he faced in that game were small quick types, not the typical left defensive end in the NFL.

ya u hit the nail on the head...i was expecting him to show out...but he kind of just stayed or remained an enigma...the combine though will help his efforts though imo....

Dee Ford has been beasting the last half of the yr....the van nuy guy is also been doing his thing for years....but Trel @ 6'7 generally will have problems with guys in the 6'2 range imo.....but him as a rt...he wont have problems with those dend types which is why when going against the Werner's (fsu) and other de's like Heyward OSU he held his own.

For a bias reason i want him to fall to the 4th rd in hopes my Dolphins will take him as a rt. Resigning Mckinnie..bring in another Free agent OT and devlop Seantrel behind them...but my org is CLUELESS.

I totally was shocked to see Jason Fox starting for det lions this yr....and hes a guy i didnt think was as good as eantrel..and the dolphins drafted a guy out of Tenn in the last draft who honestly Malcolm Bunche is better than in Dallas Thomas who 's highlights on draft day wasnt even good.
