Scholarship distribution

There seems to be a lot of confusion on how much space we have left and many people for some reason think we have up to 10 spots left. I made a post explaining it on another thread but I’ll make a thread for it to stop the confusion a bit.
Okay I’ll break it down for you guys since I spent some time on this yesterday:
We had 79 scholarships coming in. Ahmon retires that’s 78. Jeff Thomas left that’s 77. Homer left as did feagles that put us at 75. 16 seniors left which put us at 59 but we gave the long snapper James a scholly which brought us back to 60. Cager left that’s 59. Jackson left that’s 58. Martin and Kennedy transferred in which put us back at 60 but then boulware declared bringing us back down to 59. Bolden and Osburn come in and now it’s 61. Jimmy Murphy and Marshall few are then put on schoolys and that puts us at 63. Mahoney transfers which brings us down to 62 again. Thomas returns and Martell comes in now that’s 64. To that 64 now you add the 14 true freshmen we signed and that puts us at 78. We also have a punter commit who has not signed yet which puts us at 79. 85 is the max allowed and 85-79 is 6 the number of scholarships we have left.

Appreciate the breakdown, wouldn’t doubt if a few more players leave

I think that we will forego a qb this cycle, get 2 DTs & DEs, one Gt and freshman. 1CB, 1S, and an 1OL. I see some people say we have 7 scholarships left and others say 6, I'm confused on which one is right. Once people leave in the spring and summer, expect for Miami to hit the portal again for some OL and more DL.

The numbers always work out in the end.

Exactly, there's no reason to worry about numbers. If Bogle wants in someone gets pushed out like Martin. If Emerson or Williams wants in, we can do without Knowles. There's a couple guys on the OL that could be asked to leave also. There's room for a top player at any position if they want to be a Hurricane. #TNM

That 77 number is correct minus Dean and Milo but adding Marshall Few and Clay James with the new offers.

so we have 8 scholarships left and more will open up because we all expect some more players to transfer, right?

I don't understand the whole initial counter but the way Manny pursuing these recruits/ grad transfers, there should be a couple more players pushed to transfer

Miami isn’t playing at 85 in 2019. We will have 5 walkons that we’re given ships. The good news is all 5 can be pulled for additional kids in the 2020 class. Thus, the better chance of playing near 85 in 2020 after being able to take another 25.
