Schiano as Consultant?

Yes. This is good. Very good.

Assuming GS would come on as a "consultant," whatever that means in this context, it'd be a fairly odd pairing with what we've shown so far under Golden and what is generally the basis of Groh's concepts. Philosophically, I'm all for it, but would be really interested to see what, from GS, they'd weave in.

I'm sure there's a good amount of overlap. It's always good to have a contrary opinion in the room. As long as there is a good working relationship some conflict of philosophy won't be an issue. Also, I wouldn't get too concerned even if they do end up having some sort of argument. That's seen as a good thing in coach's circles. No one wants a bunch of yes men in the room.

It'd be a great sign if we start showing signs that go against a generally conservative team philosophy. Like Schiano, I prefer to err on the side of aggression.

If true then this would have to come down from key BOD members pushing Donna to do something to send a clear message to AG this defensive horror show he has put on the field the last 4 years and then paraded out a handle full of smoke n mirror Stats, is not acceptable. AG didn't want to fire anyone so Blake was probably told to find a defensive guru to hire as a consultant to evaluate the team and also help with game planning.

AG thinks he shovel can bullcrap into a bag and sell it to us fans as a gourmet express lunch. I would have preferred former NFL coach Wade Phillips, but Schiano has the UM ties. Also it could send the message that Schiano could be inline to replace AG if he doesn't win big this season.

But who knows what will happen, Schiano could just have been here for lunch.

Go Canes

This cannot be taken well by Dorito, if true....not that I mind, just an observation.

/fantasizes that it would lead to taking Dorito's place

Check out my posts on the Crawford helmet thread. I took some time to look through a few plays. It looks like we really are playing some more man coverage like it has been rumored.

Bring him on. AND Butch to consult about recruits and Chud to consult about offense. Then maybe this staff could survive another year.

While we are at it...lets bring on DBC to consult the consultants about recruiting and to consult the fans about relational issues

A few posters on CS saying legit sources telling them this has legs.....fwiw

Who is "this" and by legs do you mean for walking? or legs like a table?

Legs. You know.....legs.

I would love for this to happen. However, it does seem like the staff would be admitting that they can't fix the defense.........and if that's the case, they need to make changes to the defensive staff..

I can't believe you guys are reacting positively to this development. Evidently none of you watched the Bucs defense the last 2 years. You guys really want our defensive consultant to be the guy who played Darrelle Revis as a zone corner and used Gerald McCoy on quick TEX stunts? Schiano is a fraud and he's incredibly stubborn about his backwards philosophies, schemes and approaches.
