"Boys don't tip."

That may be true, but when a former professional athlete doesn't tip on a relatively large bill, it's definitely not a good look.

Warren Sapp
and at least one other person went to a Florida restaurant before the United States-Belgium World Cup match on Tuesday. When it came time to pay the bill, the Pro Football Hall of Famer wasn't in the mood to leave a tip.

ESPN's Darren Rovell managed to get his hands on a picture of the receipt.Rovell's tweet led to a response from Sapp:

Of course, it is possible that Sapp left a cash tip. Judging by his other tweets, that wasn't the case.

Nobody other than the people involved knows exactly what happened at the table, but stiffing a waitress on a tip on a $69 bill isn't a good look.

Apparently boys don't tip. Looks like he got into some semi-entertaining twitter discussions about it as well.

There's nothing wrong with not tipping if the service is lousy and/or the server is direspectful(guessing that's where the boys comment came from)

Agreed.

That said, what is the likelihood that the server at a sports bar in Hallandale Beach uses "boys" with disrespectful or racial overtones vs. Sapp being an obnoxious ******* about it?

Not that he cares or that he is wrong, but Sapp should have known this would make the twitter "news".

People who do not tip are scum. Waiters/waitresses actually LOSE money when you don't tip bc they have to pay a % of their total receipts - not tips - for the busboys.

Ironically, the notoriously worst tippers are also the most demanding pain in the *** customers.

And for somebody to bust his/her *** and then get stiffed is reprehensible.

Fully agreed IF the service is at least decent, but a tip is earned, not a right. If she was being a jerk, than he has every right not to tip. If she gave decent service, go ahead and give her a little something.

I love my Canes, but Sapp is about as big an *** as they come. He probably did run server to death. Guess he thinks he is Tiger or something. I never lived on tips but cheap chumps, and that's what they are, who don't want to tip should go to BK, get take out, or hears a thought, get off his fat lazy rear end and cook his own friggin food. Crap like this makes every Cane look bad. Besides, I seem to remember Sapp ****ing off Tommy Fraizer is the Orange Bowl game and then getting used by him like a cheap hooker. Grow up punk.

Apparently that waitress was calling him "boy" the whole time she was serving them, and that's why he wrote "Boys Don't Tip". Idk, I probably wouldn't have tipped the ***** either. That's kinda disrespectful

What a womanly move that is....complete with a kotex I assume.

I don't know guys. I very very rarely get service that doesn't deserve a tip. I'm a good, and enthusiastic, tipper. Most restaurant people I've been exposed to bust their asses to give good service. I appreciate it the only way I know how. Generous tipping is a good thing.

I'd gladly exchange my commentary over a beer with Warren so he can fill in the information gaps and I can ask him if it is possible he overreacted. I will pay. And tip.

Put it into context: What if John Boehner called a group of black men "Boys" at a table and it was video taped. Think MSNBC wouldn't be all over the story? What if Joe Biden had done the same and Fox News got a hold of it?

Sorry Warren. Oh, and take a breath next time dude holy ****.

Fair enough...I have no idea what really happened here between Warren and this waitress, but I agree that generally speaking customer service these days tends to be fair at best.

I do think it's curious that she chose to tweet his bill rather than take the issue to her manager, which implies to me that she is a bit of a drama queen. Why? Because most restaurants have a protocol for addressing issues with gratuity, especially for bills of significant amounts. Typically, the manager or host will intercede and ask if there was a problem with the service. I've had this happen once when my father simply forgot to leave a tip. His fault, apologized and left the tip. I doubt seriously that taking to twitter is part of any protocol for redressing issues with gratuity. Perhaps she and Sapp have a bit of drama with them.
