We don’t need the DC to recruit. Mario and others can handle the recruiting. We need our coordinators to be elite coaches. That’s how this thing will work. Mario, DVD, Jefferson and others can take care of the recruiting.

I’m either or in gattis. He has schemed up open plays allllll year and the players just aren’t getting the job done. He has constantly changed his gameplan to do everything possible to win. Dude is playing with a bunch of backups and n of the worst lines in the country. He knows how to call plays but I am concerned with how he connects to the kids and recruits. Not sure he is very good there. He signed a 2 year agreement so I would think he rides that out and then bounces but we will see

I don’t have an issue w him just that I don’t think he was meant to be the long term hire there. More of a stop gap

We have two NFL type DTs... we need more out of the DE position and depth across the DL. We are in a much better position on DL than OL which needs a bunch of bodies.

LT is NFL material. Don't hate on a kid 18 months removed from HS being asked to play big boy ball. He needs to figure out that he has to go 100% every down and when he is gassed, pull himself. If anything, we don't have the depth to push these kids but that will change this spring. I expect to see Mario land 2 more DT and multiple DE that will stack the DL even more.

While I love Pancake and Francis, I think Miami would be much better off retaining Nelson, Campbell, and Rivers and adding 1-2 portal kids that are seniors. Rotate in Pancake, Francis, Cooper, McCoy, and others that are ready for a series or half but don't expect CFP-level play out of the OL with multiple freshmen starters.

Nelson seems unlikely to play even this year. I believe he's gone.

Agree with you about expectations of playing young linemen, though.

I expect at least one True Frosh OL to start, however.

Wouldn’t hold my breath on Nelson but definitely need Campbell back. Rivers is eligible but highly doubt he skates. The more grown men up front (that can actually play), the better.

If one of our OL commits starts, it'll be Francis, even if Samson commits. Reasoning, his jump won't have to be as big as Samson. Samson is going to be a bad man, but his competition sucks. Sky high on him, so don't read more into that.

This video by Hayes on him is hysterical. I don't know if it's been posted, but my OL son and I were cracking up to it.

Nelson quit it seems so he won’t be back but yes we need rivers and Campbell back plus portal plus all these recruits. Complete overhaul of the line.

Agree. If nelson is indeed protecting himself for the draft, good riddance. I'd like for Cambpell to stick around b/c he's a player. But you're right, it's a complete overhaul.

Rivers, Clark and the rest are open. As much as I don't like the idea of starting two true freshmen, you have to do it with these 2 kids (assuming we get Samson). I would only keep one of them at tackle, though. I'd line up Samson at RT and Francis at LG.

LT - portal
LG - Francis
C- Clarke
RG - portal or Cooper
RT - Samson

After that, you have a lot of crummy depth. I wouldn't be surprised if Mario adds another 1-2 portal guys for depth.

Nelson could very well be hurt and coming back next year. Maybe D$ can comment.

Rivers is likely our best OL right now. Campbell would be our 3rd best behind Nelson and Rivers.
LT- Campbell/Nelson
LG- Rivers
C- best one we have (Clarke, Dennis, anyone who is better because we have a ton of centers)
RG- Francis/Cooper/Samson
RT- Nelson/Samson/Campbell
 
Zion Nelson will be a UDFA if he declares for the Draft.

He should just enter the portal and go someplace like SMU to play for Lashlee & Justice.

LT - Campbell
LG - Rivers
C - Clarke
RG - Francis
RT - Cooper

Going to have to hit the portal as well because I don’t see Rodriguez, Seymore, Washington, or McLaughlin sticking around.

Hire Joe Brady as OC/WR coach, then get a good specialist for QB coach. Brown is going to need a lot of polishing if he's going to be a viable QB.
