Recruiting could be much worse...

Do you guys not remember how bad things were last year at this time? We have the 15th,14th or 10th ranked class depending on what ranking site you like to use. After the disaster of the season we had I'm just glad we were able to hold the class together. Hopefully we can win our bowl game and find a couple more recruits and hit the portal hard.
Gold standard for disaster was 2010, where we had around 3 recruits in Dec 2010. THREE.

Big holes at OL, CB, and LB.
Could have still used more help at WR.
Recruiting in each of those position groups was completely mismanaged.
The staff played themselves over and over again.

But at least it's better than the total abortion of last year... I guess if you compare this class to one our worst recruiting classes in the last 15 years, yeah, it looks solid.

I consider this early class a success tbh. For them to hold onto the guys they had committed after this shameful season is a win. Not to mention there's some great players coming in.

But it's also a failure due to the absolute negligent recruiting at key positions. All self inflicted.

Next signing day tho, we may legit be ranked in the 50s if changes arent made.

Manny has his window. He controls his own destiny at this point.

It shouldn’t but it was last class around this time. At least this time we closed with 3 4 star consensus recruits in recent weeks. Still not going to close today with anyone it appears but it is what it is
Last year was an abomination. That doesn’t make this anywhere near what it should be. And it’s not even about missing out on kids at the last minute, just constant board mismanagement again.

OL and DB recruiting continue to be utterly abysmal, aside from Clarke who's unlikely to be an immediate contributor. These are premium positions at which we're only getting worse, which overshadows everything else.

The strength of this class is our exceptional RB duo of Chaney & Knighton. But unfortunately they're not getting any help up front along the OL in this class. And for as talented as our RB room is going to be, we don't have...

- An OL that will open holes for them to get to the second level.
- An OL that will do anything other than get their s*** pushed in, even against the likes of FIU, at the goal line and in all short yardage situations.
- An OC that will ever utilize them as receivers to exploit matchups against LBs to get them into space.

Sound like a winning formula?

This.

People get hung up on the class rating but it's more important to fill the needs of your roster.

For example, What good are 15 5-star RBs if they're running behind trash OL and you have barely enough CBs to run a scrimmage.

Whoever is running the offense next year better hope the OL this year gets their **** together for next year and Rivers is the real deal
