QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

He should have 1 year left. Ignoring his JUCO years, he's been at an NCAA school for 4 years, redshirted once, so he has 1 year left under 5 years to play 4.
So, going by this, how many years will Benson have since he only played two years FBS since you and @TheOriginalCane are ignoring JUCO years. I completely understand the current rule of playing 4 years or 5 with a RS that used to count JUCO like Benson.

I believe Benson could play 2 more years. Potentially have 3 years to play 2, if he didn't use a redshirt at JUCO or if the NCAA can't count a JUCO redshirt because JUCO years can't affect a player's eligibility clock (I don't know if the judge touched on that in the injunction).

Do you know if Ogbonna is officially in the portal? If he is, then the NCAA has likely given up on applying the 5-to play-4 model and will apply the 5-to play model for anyone who was in college this year. I can't imagine they will try to say, "Well, McCord & Ogbonna are eligible cause they played in 5 games not 4 but anyone who played in more than 5 games isn't eligible," while granting everyone who matriculates in the 25-26 year 5 years to play.

When I was looking at 4 year - no redshirt QBs last night I think Ogbonna had the second highest EPA/dropback after Henigan, so it isn't like there are ton of potential options from that group, but Henigan would be better than most of the guys we didn't pursue in the portal.

Whew. I don’t know if I am reading too much into this or if you and @TheOriginalCane are simplify it too much.

I am reading the case as Pavia and others lost 1 or 2 years of earning higher NIL deal since JUCO doesn’t offer good deals.

I’m going to use Benson as my example. He was not expecting another year since he played four years already but with the decision he gained a year. I am thinking he will only get one extra year.

If the NCAA can't count JUCO years against a player's eligibility clock, it should follow if you've spent 2 years at JUCO + 2 years at NCAA school you either have 2 years to play. I don't know if this what will happen, but I don't think my logic is unsound.

I think folks have spoken of it as granting a single extra year because of Paiva's particular circumstance & since it's a temporary injunction from the judge and not a final ruling. Last I read the NCAA hadn't appealed it yet, and it appears they're processing others who lost time in JUCO into the portal (Fasion, Edwards, etc).

All I know is they have to figure out soon!! As I have learned more is very confusing

I am taking it as anyone that went JUCO gets a free year

I think I even saw a bounce back guy getting the extra year

Again, Pavia's situation involved JuCos and NIL.

CJ Ogbonna played at SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE (which is NOT a JuCo) and Buffalo (also NOT a JuCo).

He played in FOUR seasons.

In his lightest year (2022), he played in FIVE games. Thus the question about needing a waiver like McCord does.
No clue maybe he has a medical redshift in there somewhere.
