QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

Our fanbase has been spoiled by a generational QB, but we need to maintain perspective and expectations. We can't expect a generational QB every year but hopefully Emory's short exposure showed what the offense is capable of without Cam.

We just need a good-enough passer that can keep the defense honest and lead the team. The more talented the better, but game-management ability and consistency trumps inconsistent potential and flashiness. We need to think about looking more like Oregon this season with an elite high-quality game-manager, than the elite-level passing with Cam.
I still think Gabriel is an overrated QB, but no denying he's a game manager and does his job for the most part. Thing about having a game manager is you've got to surround him with elite weapons. None of our top 5 pass catchers are back next year, so it's on the portal and youngins to step up and fill that production...even if we get a Gabriel-ish game manager type.

You know...maybe it's more of a sum better than it's parts kinda thing next year, depending on who the QB ends up being? Kinda like when Payton Manning left Tennessee, and then just a year later they win the natty with Tee Martin...Manning is obviously a better QB but Martin won the natty. Not calling natty for us next year at all, just saying maybe the offensive success won't be as good as it was with Cam Ward, but if the D can improve and our offense can not regress horribly, then maybe record-wise we can be the same or improve next year...a lot of things would have to go right, but just saying...maybe that's the dynamic we can hope for.

I was thinking about that too. Dawson supposedly turned down some G5 head coaching jobs to come back, assumedly to try to have another big year and be able to say it wasn’t Cam to parlay that into bigger jobs. A complete retool is a major risk, maybe he’s confident enough to do it because if it works he could point to it as being able to adapt, but if not it could bite him.

There is good chance that Dawson is gone at the end of this CFP season... this is his best chance to cash in and look for an HC at a mid level school.

Mario might be looking for a new OC and DC ...

This is what you get with Milroe:

80% of the time, he is a tornado. Your offense will be **** near unstoppable. He is a playmaker, with his feet and with the deep ball. He's not awful with the other throws as he is made out to be, but he has considerable room for improvement here. He's Lagway at UF's ceiling.

But the other 20 % of the time, the man literally forgets he is even playing football. Sometimes it's for a half, and he'll bounce back 2nd half and win you the game. And then sometimes, it's the entire game. And we're not talking BAD games. Again, we are talking like the man has no clue what a football is. He legit blanks out.

Despite that 20 %, I'd have him as #2 after Mateer on the Qb Portal Rankings. You take that kid and don't even think about it.

Wonder what the board would look like if Milroe was possibly coming here last offseason after his sophmore campaign. The staff changes hurt him and I think he would be a great fit here as long as Dawson can play to his strengths (I think he can/will)
It's wild to say this about a guy who just had an offensive season like we did, but Dawson is on the suspect list until further notice.

That offense was all Cam until proven otherwise. What I saw with Emory was grotesque. Dawson is exactly the type of goofball to recruit Milroe and then have him air it out 50 times a game. He doesn't strike me as the type who likes to change his offense for a player at all.

Milroe is still projected to go top 10
I don't think he should but he is there now.
Beck and ewers have plummeted but h3 has not as the season went on

I don’t believe Ewers falls out of the first round. Too talented and he’s performing well right now.

i can't imagine a single team that would draft milroe that high after seeing the colts whiff on richardson who had similar concerns about passing ability when coming out
