QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

Gents/Gals -

Look at the teams that needed QBs. Can you tell me of one team that doesn’t have their QB from the portal when they needed one already?

Anyone??

There is one team and guess what that team is and ask yourself what is the common denominator? Are we going to be in the same predicament next year?

It’s a way of life. Which is why Mendoza, Tulane kid, Moss, Arnold etc should’ve been the guys. You go and get your guy right away and ride.
This year is different, so I get the point. And I’d rather have one of the aforementioned guys then pretend Ewers is realistic.

But half this fanbase wanted us to move on with Maiava after Ward announced for the NFL.

Patience is a virtue.

Rosen was good in college, though.

Nah, lol. He literally wasn’t. He was around a 60% passer and a 2:1 int ratio. He had a lot of empty caloriesk in 2017 (his best season). I literally told my best friend who’s a season ticket holder for The Bruins during their game vs. ASU Rosen needs to come back or he’ll be a bust in the NFL. Iirc, he had close to 400 yrds that game, & he was inaccurate af, accounting for 1 TD & 1 int.

Rosen maybe one of the more hyped up QB bust, behind Clausen, & Rick Mirer.

Getting back to Drones - is it a lock that he's returning to VT, or is it still plausible we could take him? If we got Drones, that could get us 10 wins, assuming the new DC knows his *** from his elbow.

He threw for 3700 yards as a junior and carried a bad team to a bowl. UCLA was 33rd in scoring offense that year and 115th in scoring defense. They also had one of the worst running games in America (126th in yards per carry). After Rosen left, they didn’t make a bowl for three years.

Definitely a pro bust, but he was a good college passer.

Need to try and see if they can flip chandler morris from uva if not Bailey from nc state. If not them try to back door Julian Sayin from Ohio state.

Can we still flip kids who are already committed somewhere else from the winter portal? Btw this isn't a question to you but to anybody. Unless u know the answer

i don’t know who was Mateers backup at WSU, but sign that kid because they have a **** of a track record with identifying qb talent.

He didn't do a bad job against Syracuse. Zevi did throw 2 INTs and almost a 3rd INT but he wasn't bad. We probably could get him for the cheap too

Was that the talk? I don't remember this one. I remember him coming from UNLV and he wasn't bad over there

People are conflating talent-level with skill-set; Ewers has the skillset to run Dawson's offense at a very high level. Can he make some of the eye-popping throws? No; but he can check down and stay on time, which Cam had problems doing consistently. Cam chased the big play over the routine too often, and people are underestimating how consistently making routine plays can be more effective than occasional spectacular ones.

Pulling the ball on an RPO, then getting it out quickly and accurately without resetting your feet is something Ewers and Cam do very well. That body control and off-platform ability gets the ball to playmakers with an extra millisecond and means the difference between a contested catch vs YAC; subtleties like these are all over Ewers' film and should be the primary basis of QB/scheme comps. Their similarities in skillset are undeniable.

Hopefully we get to see Ewers run the offense and take us further than Cam.
Cam ran the offense as good as you will see it, we were literally the #1 offense all year bro

The check down **** is everyone nitpicking because we needed him to be perfect. He was on schedule way more than he wasn’t

This sounds exactly like when people said jaden haris and meesh will play within the defense more than kam and james so it will be better. Don’t trick yall selves again to believing anything

Im tellin yall the offense will not be near as good with any qb. Seems like yall still dont fully realize how much cam covered up on offense and what he allowed you to do.

Imagine having a Heisman finalist, best qb best passing game in the country by far and saying hey i want to see what happens when the offense is when we hit routine plays lmao. Wtf are we doing here, and we doing that for ewers??? Lmao ok yall will learn the hard way once again
