This isn’t meant as a shot at anyone or anything, but “draftable grade” could not be a more useless factor in any of this imo. Guys get drafted all the time that suck. Guys go undrafted all the time that were very good college players. Anyone who actually took the time to watch Ward at Wazzu could’ve told you he should’ve had a day 1 projection for 2 years running, but we got him because he had a day 3 grade.

This kid may be good. Until it seems like he’s a real option I’m not deep diving full games. But whether he’s projected to be drafted really doesn’t mean a **** thing.

And I’d rather have D’Eriq King, who was never going to be drafted as a QB, than a Josh Rosen, who everybody knew was terrible. Other positions I think the draft grade is a little more translatable to how they’ll perform in college. QB is totally different.

Rosen was good in college, though.

He really wasn’t. He was a 60% passer with zero mobility and roughly a 2:1 TD:INT. He was fine, I guess, but I never would have called him good. He was a worse Brad Kaaya with way better PR.
So are we know trying to say if Kaaya wasn’t here that he wouldn’t be able to lead us to another 10 win season? Because with this O-line and run game he absolutely could.

he was very good his junior year.

On a team I don’t remember being loaded with talent.

Sure. I’ll say that. We won 9 games with a defense that gave up less than 19 points per game in Kaaya’s last year as a starter.

Can you say with a straight face you think we win the same number of games this year with Kaaya as we did with Cam Ward?

I mean the defense was trash this year but when your defense is trash time of possession is your friend
Defense played better in 2nd half yesterday with long clock drives
