QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

I really should not have watched this video. Seems like this kid would be a great fit for SDs offense especially with a strong OL and running game.
And this is him in limited action with 2nd & 3rd string receivers, an abysmal o-line, and vanilla offense

Arnold reminds me of Bo Nix. People forget Bo Nix was benched for TJ Finely at one point. Arnold can be rejuvenated behind a real OL and running game.

Arnold's a very interesting option with as high a ceiling as anyone. He's certainly not blameless for OU's woes offensively, but their OL had 5 new starters this year and their WR corps were injury depleted beyond belief all year.

It's going to look much different than this year offensively no matter which QB we land because obviously there's only one Cam Ward, but Dawson got a lot out of a limited player in Clayton Tune at Houston. Arnold's physical talent, athleticism, and upside are far superior to Tune.

The passing game will inevitably take a significant step back without Ward no matter who we land because how could it not, but Arnold's running ability would add another dimension to this offense.

Landing Arnold wouldn't come without risk, but if we can't land Mateer or another more proven QB then I'd rather swing for the fences on someone like Arnold than settle for a limited player who's a statue in the pocket.

Oklahoma had terrible OL portal evaluations. The guys they brought in for the OL over the guys they passed up on, performed worse than the guys they passed up on.

Maybe JS would have been the difference in one of our 2 losses.
Specifically in the 2nd/3rd quarters of those games.
If we need top talent to beat mediocre teams, then we have bigger issues (and we do). The team is undisciplined and unaccountable. That’s on Mario for allowing it rather than benching players. This is why we continue to be one of the most heavily penalized teams in the country. I said it before the season, George couldn't play for me. He wasn't held accountable and other players saw it and acted accordingly. His antics continued throughout the season. Several times he could have been penalized and wasn't. Those chickens came home to roost one last time when it mattered most.

I hope the younger players are more disciplined. I believe they have those traits as people. Not just in football.

Same criteria as last year's search:

We need a guy who can go win the ND game, and then the Gator a few weeks later.

The good news is we have options.

Sources confirmed to On3 on Wednesday that Jackson Arnold plans to enter the transfer portal. The former Five-Star Plus+ recruit and top-five quarterback will have plenty of suitors. Three early schools to watch: Georgia, Auburn and Mississippi State.

Miller Moss officially entered the transfer portal on Monday. The USC quarterback is going to have a lengthy list of suitors, but the early school to watch at this point is Louisville, sources tell On3. The Cardinals are expected to be aggressive in the portal and landing their quarterback fast will be imperative.
