Q&A

Great Q&A, Austin. I also loved the podcast that you did with Pete.

Congratulations on getting to play football for the U. That's special.

One question please, if you're game: what was the biggest reason for the 5-game win streak to close the season with the team looking sharper each game? What, if any, part of that should translate to next season with the question mark at QB?

I think a big thing was opening up the offense more and passing more on 1st and 2nd down. This is when Njoku really took off and we utilized him as a mismatch. I think it'll be important to let the QB throw early to keep the defense back and set up the run.

Will the added mobility of a new QB offset Kaaya's passing value and be a net positive to the QB position under Richt's offensive play calling? Do you think we'll go up tempo and try to squeeze in 70+ snaps a game because of the added mobility and improved OL?

I think having that ability to at least escape the pocket and prolong the play can be huge, and negate any potential line issues. If the QB can mentally handle up tempo then I think we definitely will.

Fellow Indiana native here- Lawrence Central alum. There were rumors that players told recruits to not come when Golden was here. Any truth to that?

Great to have other Indy natives. I'd heard those rumors but not sure if they were true or not

Nice! Did not know you were an Indiana native. I'm from Highland, IN, in Northwest Indiana.

Very nice, I lived in Indianapolis for a few years then grew up in Carmel

What was Brad like in the locker room and huddle. His body language in games sometimes seemed like he'd rather be somewhere else.

1) Who has the biggest crank on the team (outside of you, obviously)?

2) Is it true that Gadbois once tried to fight Golden and that's why he was dismissed from the team?

3) Which coach is most likely to be hitting the sauce in the Grove on any given night?

4) Which coach would you sit down and have a beer with?

1) Probably shouldn't post it lmao
2) I didn't see everything but it was during one of the Navy Seals training workouts we did and somehow an argument started
3) If I had to guess I'd say Dugans
4) I had a drink with Coach Rumph at Universal during the bowl week. He's a great guy to be around, so I'd love to have another with him. As for someone new I'd say Coach Dugans

Wait, Gadbois tried to physically fight Golden?

That actually happened?

Who's the screamer coach? You know...like that one coach on every team who is a hardcore disciplinarian that no one wants to even come close to ****ing off?

Will Choc get his chance this year?

And who do you predict will start at WR this year? Give me the starting 3.

If he can be ready for spring ball he'll have a chance to contribute, its wide open behind mark. For receiver my guess is X-Cager Y-Berrios Z-Richards. Thomas and Mullins should both get a lot of snaps too

How well to the coaches get along personally and schematically? Do we need to worry about any of our coaces leaving if SEC school comes calling?

They all get along very well, which is different from the old staff. Some of these guys were together at UGA but the ones that weren't are still just as close with everyone. I think everyone seems to be on the same page schematically. They all seem to like it here, I don't think anyone would leave just for an SEC school unless they get a significant promotion.

Safe to say it was a good night in Wynwood for Austin

When specimens that are as endowed as young Master Pfenninger start swing crank around willy-nilly, the outcome is surely going to be chaotic.

*Getting patted down walking into the bar*
"Sir is that a weapon on you?"
"No that's just my crank"

I swear on everything I love that the Screen on the TD in the FSU game that gave them the lead was an OUTRAGEOUS hold on Corn attempting to make the tackle. Is this what the team saw as well?

Some you guys really need to listen to the podcast. He answers many of these questions.

This is a great thread idea though.

Question - With you saying you would like to be a sports agent and knowing Miami is about to put out a ton of NFL players in the next 3 years do you worry that Drew Rosenhaus might see you as a threat and slash your tires?

Question - without naming schools (your a future agent now) what were some of the most extreme recruiting offers to some of your teammates had and said no to so they could go to Miami?

Question - When players host recruits do they know when a recruit is there just for a trip and are able to notify the current staff that the kid is not coming? Did the staff know some of the bigtime WR's were not coming?

Question - After FSU who is seen as Miami's biggest rival by the players? Why?

Question - It seemed hard for Richt to discover Njoku as a mismatch until late in the season. Does Richt have blind spot for TE's or were the TE's covered more than we thought after watching film? Is Richt a believer in the TE now?

1. I hope not haha, I think he could be a great guy to learn from
2. I never heard dollar amounts, but just confirmation that it happens
3. I haven't hosted anyone so I'm not entirely sure, but I've heard some teammates say they didn't think a guy would actually come. Not sure if they say anything to the coaches.
4. VT and UNC are both always big since they're our biggest competition in the Coastal
5. Probably a mix of the D focusing on the TEs early and line problems leading to not enough time to find them. Also Njoku improved across the season and got more consistent in practice so that led to more looks. I know he's big on Herndon too.

He loved Miami and was a huge team first guy, he was just quiet and not a rah-rah guy

Not a physical fight. I think Taylor gave up on a drill or something of the nature and they got into an argument
