Q&A

If Kevin Olsen aka Baby Jesus actually applied himself and took football seriously, how do you think he would've fared? Would he have started in lieu of Kaaya?

He's trash, my friend plays at the school he played at this past year and he was benched. TRASH

many on these boards talk about the facilities and how Miami does not compare well with other schools. From a players perspective what are the most important parts of the facilities that players look at compared to what fans "think" are important?

Does the IPF need a slide to make sure we stay on par with the recruits looking at Clemson : ). What does the IPF need that you guys don't already have?

Even with our updates we're still far behind a lot of other programs and always will be due to monetary and space concerns but they're solid and anything else is just extra. I'd say an adequate sized weight room and updated locker room are the two most important things. The locker room isn't as high tech as others but its new and still very nice. The weight room is getting a facelift with the IPF and that'll help a lot. The only thing we actually need is the roof covering the practice fields so we'll get that, nothing else is actually necessary. I think if a recruit goes to a school for their facilities then he's going for the wrong reasons.

A few ST's questions.

1. I gave Brax a TOn of schit on here for fair catching so many punts last year. Was it because we couldn't block the gunners or were other teams punters just always having career days vs us?

2. What was the problem with protection up the middle on FG's. It was a problem all year.

3. Regarding "The Play" vs Duke. How often did that play even get practiced and talk about the trip home after that incredible game.

1) I think he finished 8th in the country in return avg., so its hard to get much better than that. He was out there over other guys because our staff knew he was reliable and encouraged a fair catch if it was even close

2) I'm not sure I think just some blown assignments but it cost us vs FSU

3) We've practiced a throw-back pass before but nothing like that. I lost my voice afterwards, craziest ending ever and brought us closer together when we needed it

Why did we not use more pre snap motions or reverses in game?

Was Michael Wyche as lazy as he looked on the field?

How come Jake O'Donnell never got a shot at any position?

What was Ray Lewis 3 like? Seemed like he was all about everything but football

Great Q&A, Austin. I also loved the podcast that you did with Pete.

Congratulations on getting to play football for the U. That's special.

One question please, if you're game: what was the biggest reason for the 5-game win streak to close the season with the team looking sharper each game? What, if any, part of that should translate to next season with the question mark at QB?

I think a big thing was opening up the offense more and passing more on 1st and 2nd down. This is when Njoku really took off and we utilized him as a mismatch. I think it'll be important to let the QB throw early to keep the defense back and set up the run.

THANK YOU!

That was driving me NUTS - especially in October. Hope Richt realizes that while the run helps the passing - if they stack the box - the passing helps the run.

We know Kaaya and Berrios cried when Golden was fired, was there anyone else?

What were the thoughts on the banners?

Does the team know that the face of the Miami fanbase, CutletRidge Laz is a convicted felon?

A lot of people did, he gave a very emotional speech to us when he found out. He gave many of us a chance that we might not have otherwise gotten so we all respected him for that, but it was move that had to be made for the program. The banners were kind of awkward, some of them pretty funny though, I guess they got the job done. And no I wasn't aware lol

What's your degree in?

Political science with a business management minor. I originally was planning on law school and to either be a lawyer or do something in politics but recently decided I want to try being a sports agent

Dope. Congrats on your future plans and side note: I got a troop from Western Michigan that told me there's NOTHING there. (I got an offer there in high school but already had a nagging feeling of the nothingness) if you do go there, they're COMPLETELY about the team but unsure how they feel since fleck left.

I've been there before, you're right there's not much in Kalamazoo but they're a good program and honestly I don't care where I'd go I just want a chance to play more.

Austin -- what improvements did you make in physical testing from when you arrived at Miami to now?

My high school had a great weight program and I stopped growing early so I came in close to maxed out of my potential. I put on 12-15 pounds though and my bench and squat did go up, but I've had a couple of bad back injuries including a fracture and 3 bulged discs this past spring. These have given me some setbacks and kept me somewhat stagnate, but my overall fitness is way up from Gus since everything is so high intensity

How well to the coaches get along personally and schematically? Do we need to worry about any of our coaces leaving if SEC school comes calling?

They all get along very well, which is different from the old staff. Some of these guys were together at UGA but the ones that weren't are still just as close with everyone. I think everyone seems to be on the same page schematically. They all seem to like it here, I don't think anyone would leave just for an SEC school unless they get a significant promotion.

Anything good to share there? I take it Hurlie was one of the ones that didn't necessarily see eye to eye with the others? Were you there at the same time as Barrow? Do you know what the deal was there?

I liked Hurlie a lot and he was often handcuffed by what D'onofrio wanted to do and didn't like some of the defensive concepts. I was here for a bit when Barrow was here, I'm not sure exactly what happened but I know he didn't agree with the coaching philosophies and saw what direction the program was heading.

Got my Masters from WMU. Drink lots of Bell's!

Did you get treated differently by the team because you were a walk on/scout team player? Bonus question, who is your best friend on the team?

A lot of us got treated pretty ****** by the medical staff but the coaches were all cool, especially the new staff. The old staff were all nice to me since I worked hard but it was pretty apparent I'd never get an opportunity, as they never let walk ons or scout guys do 1on1s, 7on7s or regular team periods so it was harder to develop. When the new coaches came they gave everyone a chance and everyone did 1on1s, 7on7 and team and I improved a lot more. Hard to pick one but Wyatt Chickillo, Michael Welch, Teddy Stavetski, Eddie Dunn, Jake Romp who are all walk ons, and Badge, Gordinier, Langham and I was close with Crow when he was here.

both drew and his brother are lawyers. in fact, many sports agents are lawyers. it is one of the best ways to gain competency and a foundation for the profession.

i strongly suggest it.

I've gone back and forth on it and realize the benefits of it. My thought process has been to get a 1 year masters in either Sports Management, Political Science, and some schools have 1 year Master's of Law. The reason for this is so I can get certified earlier and be able to try to sign the guys that I still know. Back in the day you could get certified without having a post grad degree, but now you cant take the certification test until you complete a post grad. I've thought that I could try night law school or some type of part time while I'm working if I think I'll need the extra skills.

He had some talent but I still think Brad would've beaten him out
