I don't consider myself a mope in the least, but this QB competition does seem set-up in favor of Heaps.

Honest question, how so? Kaaya seems to have been given every opportunity, even resting Heaps during the scrimmage.

I get the whole starting the senior at QB line of thinking, but I think people using Goldens history of going with the veteran are looking at the QB battle wrong.

This is what I'll say about the QB competition....

-If Kaaya is killing it, give it to Kaaya.
-If Heaps is killing it, give it to Heaps.
-If its even, give it to Heaps. Lord knows the right side of that line is going to be 2008 all over again (Joel Figeroa anyone!?) and its best to allow the kid to develop w/o getting pummeled.

Or how about 2009 and God Bless his soul...Matt Pipho

Watching him try to block in space was painful.

OL has replaced everything else as far as my number one concern. It's not that its devoid of talent but the middle/right is insanely questionable even though I really liked Isadora early on. We haven't gotten much out of our lines in the past and that was with a lot more talent there. The constant domination by our defensive rushes is a double edged sword for sure. Yes we have some supremely gifted guys on the outside, but the constant beating they give our OL is very concerning, given that we have under-performed there for years.

Yep, Ive been worried about it all along. I think a lot of people have really overlooked this issue. Line was supposed to be a strength of this team last year, and I thought they were mediocre at best. Im very concerned about the OL and the depth we have.

Bunche leaving really hurts us. I'm surprised people don't talk about that more.

People probably don't talk about it because Bunchie was terrible here.

So what are we complaining about today guys?

Golden appointed Heaps the starter at DT where we have no depth because we don't play enough press coverage and move guys' positions permanently-but-only-for-one-day too often.

I think I got that right.

The board should automatically replace the word "mope" with "I suck huge dlcks" whenever anyone posts it.

That's one option. Or people could stop being so ridiculously mopey.

Or, those who skip around in rainbow shirts could read objective comments about the program without crying and holding a group meeting for support.

So were you wearing a Rainbow shirt when you posted this?

In a position where we lack depth and experience, we need everyone we can get. The guy wasn't an all american but he was good enough to log some starts and meaningful playing time on some of our past olines which were probably better than the one we're going to field this year. He would have played a lot this year which means that someone that is not as good as him will play instead.

By virtue of him being the experienced senior player and the other option being a true freshman, non-EE QB, that in-and-of-itself sets things up in favor of Heaps. Very few coaches are comfortable playing a true freshman QB, especially to start the season.

And on the road.

Interesting that Kirby lost his black shirt. Is he even back to practicing? I know he had been held out for a while due to injury.
