I don't consider myself a mope in the least, but this QB competition does seem set-up in favor of Heaps.

The board should automatically replace the word "mope" with "I suck huge dlcks" whenever anyone posts it.

That's one option. Or people could stop being so ridiculously mopey.

Or, those who skip around in rainbow shirts could read objective comments about the program without crying and holding a group meeting for support.

Very few objective comments being made. Most are so ridiculous as to be laughable, or are brought up when different subjects are being discussed, especially positive ones.

By virtue of him being the experienced senior player and the other option being a true freshman, non-EE QB, that in-and-of-itself sets things up in favor of Heaps. Very few coaches are comfortable playing a true freshman QB, especially to start the season.

It's a little annoying. Cmon bruh. I hate the term "mope" too. Its just as played out as the guys who whine and complain all day. I just think we should save the *****ing and moaning for when we actually lose. Ya feel me?

In the meantime, we can make the board not unreadable.

From what I've read Kaaya has out performed Heaps and IMO that's enough. The only way to get experience is playing and Kaaya seems to have the maturity to handle the job.

Honest question, how so? Kaaya seems to have been given every opportunity, even resting Heaps during the scrimmage.

I get the whole starting the senior at QB line of thinking, but I think people using Goldens history of going with the veteran are looking at the QB battle wrong.

From reading all of the same camp, practice, and scrimmage reports that have been posted here, I haven't seen anything showing Kaaya outperforming Heaps by any measurable degree. With all else equal, most coaches in football would go with the more experienced QB. Very few coaches are willing to start true freshman unless they have no other choice.

Only person that has said that is D. Every player and stat says Heaps has played as good as Kaaya. Obviously Kaaya has the higher ceiling but that doesn't just mean you automatically put him in there.

Hey I want it to be Kaaya too, but people are making an awful lot of assumptions based on little details that emerge from these reports. You know Golden wants a QB at lousiville on Labor Day that won't turn the ball over. That might be the deciding factor in a tight battle, and to Kaayas credit, the kid has only been here for a couple months.

I've read good and bad about both, depending who you ask what day. I've seen good and bad clips on both. How did you come up with Kaaya has outperformed Heaps?

What tangible evidence do you have?

I guess the way I'm looking at it is Kaaya has performed well in both scrimmages, has a handle on the playbook, and has shown maturity far beyond his years.

Heaps seems to be throwing more ints. in practice than Kaaya and being a fifth year senior shows a similar command of the offense because he also just got here.

I look at things as, if they're even or close give the youth a chance to learn if you feel he's mature enough to handle the lumps that are bound to come from being a true freshman making the jump to big-time college ball.

I agree with you, all I want is a QB that doesn't make mistakes and can distribute the ball.

I agree with you but I don't agree when you say this seems to be set up for Heaps. Giving Kaaya the reigns in the last scrimmage and during practices constantly says they are giving Kaaya every opportunity to win the job.

[[/I]

I guess we will see after the next few practices, I just want them to name someone so the offense can start to gel.

I don't have a problem with beating up the coaches when it makes sense, but when you can tell it is a setup for schtick and ****ing and it is poorly done or untimely it is just sad.

Even more sad --- being a **** that doesn't post, but negs people for saying anything anti-mope. Very sad.

There are actually people out there whose lives are so boring and miserable that they look forward to trolling message boards daily. I cannot imagine being such a tool or wasting my limited time on earth trying to distinguish myself as a certified troll. It's just weird.

Seems to is not the same as is. Coaches have praised Kaaya as highly as you have. They have done the same for Heaps. Nothing wrong with the opinion you are putting forward in your last sentence, but it's just an opinion, and plenty of people feel it's best to sit a true Freshman and let him learn the ropes his first year without being thrown into the fire. Both competing opinions have merit. I think you'll see Kaaya starting because of the unknown variable of Heaps sore arm.

That points more to a difference in philosophy than stacking the deck in favor of Heaps. Experience is often considered one of the deciding factors, especially when all else has been relatively equal. That's common among many coaches, including some of the greats. Also the idea that throwing a true freshman into the fire helps his development is also questionable. Wish I could find it again, but I've seen an analysis saying that this is not really the case, and that allowing them time to sit and learn can be just as, if not more, beneficial. So whether one ultimately agrees or disagrees with the choice for starter, I don't think it's valid to say there wasn't a real competition or that the coaches didn't have the "balls" to put in a freshman.

Jake Heaps is the opposite of what Miami needs at QB. He's a turnover machine. 35 tds to 27 ints throughout his college career.

Also he's throwing more picks in practice than Kaaya is. It would make no sense at all to start Jake Heaps on the road on Labor Day. He will get rattled. Y'all got it backwards.
