We are quite a few levels away from having the kind of roster that Kirby had with Bennet.

And it’s not the way he planned it. He recruited at least 2 blue chip qb’s and also brought the dude from wake that was putting up monster yards. Bennet won that job after he outplayed everyone.

Dudes like Bennet are the exception and not the rule.

Mid quarterbacks winning titles in today’s game are outliers . If you look at every playoff team in recent history, they almost all had NFL quarterbacks. Even Michigan who didn’t throw the ball a lot had a legit first rounder at quarterback.

I don’t think there’s a team in college football now who could win the title without great QB play. There’s not team that is so loaded at every other position that they can just play some average dude at quarterback and still win big and people who want to build a team that way are trying to win in the hardest way possible. The odds of building another 2001 Miami team are **** near impossible. You need a qb who can carry you from time to time.
