This is when corporate America and sports don't mesh... #1 yes it's all on Mario at the end of the day because he's responsible period...See, this is why they say don't mix friends with business. It gets too personal. In corporate America this is called excuses. Personally, it's understandable. But in business it's all about the bottom line and no one gives af about the reasons, excuses, or circumstances. You know how hard it is to fire a good employee because they're getting a divorce and their car broke down so they started being late all the time? It's hard af but I've had to do it.
When my boss asks me why is Tony late all the time? They don't care about his personal issues only the fact that he's costing us money and success.
That's how it's seen with Mario. All the nuances don't matter to most people. His el capitano. So no one cares if one if his crew forgot to swab the **** deck and raise the anchor. The ship is sinking and it's the captains fault. No one's blaming that crew member. He's gotta work on his leadership skills bro.
#2 if we have an all American ****** up on a particular Saturday and he blows reck, costs us a game and you can directly see his mistakes cost us repeatedly. Do you also in that instance blame the DC blame Mario or do you acknowledge players gotta do better also?.
I'm pretty well established in the corporate world at this point. I work in music. I also own several businesses. Most of those businesses they run themselves. I hired the right people to get the most for my bread. They have to be accountable towards each other. That's how the world works. Does the captain ultimately fall on the sword if they can't fight no more? **** yeah. But those sailors better fight they asses off in between. That's why theirs a chain of command I'd imagine
