PODCAST: We're on to UNC ft. D$ and Lance Roffers

Martell might be able to do some things down the line at receiver and he’s capable for sure and I’m for him on making that move. but playing over guys like Hightower, pope, Payton, Wiggins this early on? That’s not the ideal decision for Diaz to make right now. Yes they have a lot to prove but give them a chance to do it in the game first, can’t just give that opportunity away that quickly to a newcomer at the position. That’s not good for the morale of the group who aren’t playing as much. Obviously everyone knows I defend tate sometimes but just keeping it real.

Plus it’s not really conducive to have 3 receivers on the field at the same time under 6’0 which we currently have in our starting group 2 of which are 5’10 or under. Pope 6’0 or6’1, payton 6’1, Hightower and Wiggins both over 6’3 all bring a different element to the offense that we need. Those directly after the starters pope and Hightower have to be used better soon. So that means no more jet sweeps to Osborn, only Thomas or pope should run. More rpo’s it doesn’t take rocket science to be able to execute that. Also using Hightower more as a deep threat who can go up and get it. Really he can be used in any type of route
Guarantee at least one or two of these guys are gamers (I'm sure Hightower Is) but if they don't ever get to play, we'll never know.

What has Pope done? What has Wiggins done except drop passes? Payton has as much as experience as Tate. Hightower is the only guy with a legitimate gripe IMO.

Remember, one of the reasons Manny brought in Osborn is because our WR room was too immature. Tate’s rise does not surprise me.

Exactly. Pope never really did **** in HS either outside of camps. We all blamed it on QB which i'm sure was a big part of it, but clearly isn't all of it.

Playing Patchan and Garvin over Hill and Rousseau in the UF game seemed like a strategic decision, and frankly, a smart one at that given how UF's offense works. If we see Hill and Rousseau getting very little playing time throughout the season, then maybe there's a valid issue there, but at this point I don't see one.

Yup, setting the edge was clearly the goal of the Dline in the last game.

I’m not jumping off the enos bandwagon whatsoever, I liked What I saw And there were opportunity for even bigger plays. I Just want the receiver rotation specifically Hightower, pope and a lesser extent Payton to be more integrated in the offense

Can they play OT?

Remember when Glenn Cook and Romeo Davis were grabbing gt ***** packs while more talented players sat on the bench.....just saying

i didnt watch him in HS. is this true?

Yes. He had 600 ish yards and 7 TD's as a junior. I couldn't find Senior stats but if i remember correct he had even less yds his senior year. Those #'s aren't awful but certainly not 5 star worthy. He was really boosted by camp performances, his testing #'s, and a good HS Championship game.

Believe pope had 10 tds or more his junior year with multiple punt returns for tds. He looked dynamite and elite in that state championship game that year. I think The qb play was bad at south ridge his final year as neither he or Dee Wiggins were as productive as they were the year prior

The only place i could find any stats. I think people on this board listened to the Duasso hype train too much. Again though i'm not calling his stats bad i'm just saying the hype/ 5star rating wasn't about his production and his lack of production continues to follow him. We all heard how great he looked in spring shorts again, notice a pattern lol?

But Pope is certainly doing his part to provide optimism, given his strong junior year that included 37 catches, 619 yards and seven touchdowns.

Whatever it is, it needs to be fixed and those guys need to be given the chance to play in games or you will inevitable lose them. You know how kids get these days. At the least Pope ,Hightower, Payton have a legitimate gripe of why they aren’t playing much.

I don't know how legitimate it is...they have to earn their PT

This super complex extremely difficult offense that literally only 3 players have the "intelligence" to understand produced an astounding 214yds in the air...

Don't play any of the WR's, keep'em on the bench & don't act shocked when they hit the portal & kill our depth.

Every other major winning program found a way to get their TF WR's on the field & get them integrated in the offense & played, but we somehow can't even get a group of 2nd year players on the field while simultaneously NOT BEING ABLE TO THE THROW THE BALL DOWN THE FIELD LOL.

Hey the coaches know better than I do so if they don't think they need to play those guys then by all means don't, but if our passing offense remains amongst the worst in college football & we continue to lose games it'll speaks volumes about their lack of ability to develop.

I have no problem with them playing any player they feel gives us the best chance to win, but here's the caveat... YOU HAVE TO WIN.

The offense has cost us multiple games over these last 3 years simply because they were incapable of doing the most basic fundamental sh*t, even garbage P5 teams can figure out a way to pass for 250-260yds a game, in today's era of college football you can literally manufacture yards off scheme & pace alone, but yet we can't do elementary level sh*t to move the ball down the field. We're the only **** team in D1 ball that has an offense chock full of 4-star players that still can't throw the ball lol.

It's real simple, if your offense is struggling you exhaust every option possible until you find what works, doing the same thing over & over again while expecting a different result is insanity.

I agree 100%. Other programs have less and do more. The ones that have talent look way better. We lead the country in excuses that other programs could use but don’t. There is no excuse - 3 4* OL, 2 4* TE, multiple 4* and a 5* receiver, all QBs are 4* and all RBs are 4 or 5*. What would Dino Babers or Cutcliffe do with this talent? We are on par with any team in the country on talent. No excuses not to be better. Not even two freshman tackles. I don’t want to hear it.
