our DBs
do you guys think they are just that bad or simply extremely poorly coached and used in suboptimal ways
under Golden we used to claim that our D line was trash
then the same D line make a complete 180 in just 1 year under Manny's scheme and Kul's coaching
can we expect that type of change with simply changing the coaches
or are they simply jags
this secondary makes me with we had Gurvan Hall and R Knowles back there

It's both, the question is chicken or egg.

Guidry is the epitome of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

You play man to man with DB's that can't play it or aren't good enough. You have safeties that have no right being out there (Harris) and CB that are lost in coverage (Porter).

I have no answers though. We also aren't disciplined enough to run zone, we get cooked there too...

Coaching is limited with a lack of athletic ability.
but the same D line we thought was limited looked all world under a new scheme and position coach
so im just hoping that simple coaching changes can salvage what we have

Jaden Harris is that bad, yes. I rarely just completely **** on kids, but he's an FCS level player, MAYBE somewhere in the MAC, at best. He is not a Power league player at all. He does nothing well, literally. He's often out of position, he has poor eyes, he's not ready at the snap, he can't cover, he can't tackle, he's not fast and he's not big. Other than that, he's awesome.

Everyone says Guidry can’t run his scheme. Well then adapt or recruit better.

Half of the NCAA maybe more play with less talented DBs than us… we simply can’t coach these kids to get the most out of them… starts in the DB room with one on ones and the DC who asks them to do things they can’t do. Plus, they are gutless and won’t bench players who are holding the team back

Last year Dawson was hung out to dry by this board yet got a talented (lets be honest cam was not a 1st round pick last year) QB and he immediately delivers a #1 offense… why? Cause he knows how to coach and get the most out of the talent…. Guidry? He gets talent and still struggles because he can’t coach up his unit and a terrible game day coach who is incapable of making adjustments

Probably a bit of both. But if you go look at Jaden Harris' tape you'd be convinced he's a make-a-wish kid that the staff is letting play cause he's got 3 months left to live. Either that or has anyone seen a short bus that's always pulling up behind the team buses before games?

Coaching. Don’t care. Any coach worth his salt doesn’t make the defense look like a circus. I’m sure we are more talented than Indiana or another team who doesn’t just give up 30 yards every play. And never holds a team to a field goal. We theoretically should have a better defense if we switched rosters with a MAC team. But yes Harris is horrible

Still waiting for Guidry to make an adjustment to OJ getting absolutely abused all game
I don’t have a good way to display it yet since the full game and zoomed out views aren’t available yet

But what he kept doing sending a delayed blitz that went nowhere while simultaneously leaving OJ one on one was a fireable offense

The 3rd and 8 play where OJ got the PI in the end zone was possibly the worst defensive call I’ve seen in my life

I want to present it in a way where someone that has more knowledge than me can try and explain it but from where I was sitting I’ve never seen anything like it

One of my buddy’s who is a Penn St grad, football fan but not well versed in Xs and Os at all yells “where the **** is that safety going?!” Before the ball was snapped

It was that ******* bad

Go to the football thread on the WEZ if you want to see screenshots of our D that will make you want to vomit

I don't see how people are asking this question about talent vs. coaching when you consider the OJ issue alone - much less all of the other atrocities
