You think traffic is Bad on US1/Ponce now??.....Lol...it would be Catastrophic if a Stadium were built (which it won't) within a 5 mile radius of UM.....Coral Gables and surrounding areas within 4-5 miles wouldn't be able to withstand this "build a stadium" nonsense.
You know what else is within 4 miles of campus? TROPICAL PARK!!

The more I read this thread the less likely the Canes will ever leave JRS.

The argument that the stadium is empty, or too far from campus or not owned by the school is shot down by the traffic and parking argument.

So, no. Do not expect the Canes to ever leave Miami Gardens because South Miami and Coral Gables and (all of Miami-Dade County) is congested.

THERE IS NO ROOM ... why are these nonsensical threads even started.
It doesn’t matter if we had the room. Look, I lived on Campus. I see the map. I am aware. Thank you.

I also own a condo in University Inn. I am familiar with the area. Thank you.

If you read this thread, the majority of the fans don’t want more traffic anywhere near campus. Case closed.

Hard Rock was built to accommodate football, baseball, and soccer. So it sucks for at least two of the three. The renovations helped, but still not great.

Every home game I have seen on tv, except for the Notre Dame game in 2017, has looked like sheeit on tv. Mostly a fan problem, but its still a problem.

The good news is HR was the perfect stadium for fans during the pandemic. So much space between fans there was no way you could catch COVID.
Come back and tell us when you have actually attended a game in HR...

We play in one of the best stadiums in CFB.

Driving anywhere within 5 miles of campus is a nightmare... USeless 1 is nothing but the longest parking lot in the South.

I was staying at the University Inn wayyyyyy before it was Condos....I'm talking late 80s...never lived on campus, but practically lived at Hecht for a number of yrs...So I too, am aware of the area....

Yeah the only problem with HRS is the product we put on the field sometimes. The environment is just fine.
Exactly. You put a compelling product on the field, HRS will be packed, but only for big games. That's the problem people don't recognize. Even when the product is **** good, people aren't going to spend time coming to the stadium to watch Miami beat on garbage. A lot of our fans just don't understand(Or forget) that even during the decade of dominance the fabled Orange Bowl was half empty more often than not. That's when Miami was able to stack the schedule with multiple conference winners and whatnot. Even then, if the game didn't have huge stakes, people didn't care.

Miami is playing in a world class facility right now. WORLD CLASS. I've been fortunate enough to catch road games in college football facilities from Ann Arbor all the way to Tallahassee and **** near everywhere in between. Miami plays in one of the best facilities when it comes to fan experience and comfort, and it's not particularly close. Fans of other programs have it really, really crappy and if you've travelled like I have, you've seen it firsthand. Amazing how schools can spend so much on player and staff comfort, but still have fans sitting on benches and urinating in a trough. I still can't believe that Memorial Stadium in Lincoln they don't have sinks in the restroom, they just have these huge fountain looking things with some soap dispensers nearby. That's how you wash your hands there. That's crap, and if those people had other entertainment options, they wouldn't put up with it. It's complete nonsense. Stale hotdogs, non existent signage. It's like going to a larger HS game at some of the "Legendary" facilities.

I honestly think that there’s a greater potential for bigger crowds with even the less than marquee games. Here’s an example.

Virginia in 2017. Notice the crowd shots.

If we start to win consistently, I guarantee you any P5 opponent, we will have very good crowds, better than what we even used to get at the orange bowl. The one or two scrubs we play a year? Those will be the lighter crowds, but even then I’ve been at the stadium with scrubs where it was 40+ thousand.

I don’t think people understand like we do how bad the traffic is in that area. How many times have you gone to a basketball or baseball games and had to sit in traffic for like what seemed like forever. and we’re talking about a couple of thousand people going to game when it’s basketball or baseball.

Sometimes, in the middle of the day, or even early early mornings, during generally low traffic times, even when there is no game, you can sit on US 1 and wait forever just to drive down to campus if you’re coming from the north. If you’re approaching from other roads it’s the same deal. The traffic is horrible as it is.
I’m down there three times a week and I can tell you it is a nightmare. I would say 99% of the people pushing for a stadium near campus really don’t have a clue how Coral Gables is set up or maybe have never been there.

Traffic around Freedom Park would be lessened by everyone's accessibility to Metrorail and Brightline. All you Broward folk who love HRS because it's nearer to you would only need to drive to a nearby train station.

But let's dispense with all the rip van winkle, this is about our fans and their newfound obsession with tailgating. Anything that gets in the way of having a good time before the game won't even be entertained by the tailgating addicts.

Look what happened the one year they cancelled tailgating in 2020. **** near everyone said lol no thanks and deferred payment on their season tix to the next season.

Most people like having their cars with them.... Not as many people as one would assume would use metrorail/brightline....
And to be fair what happened in 2020 had a lot to do with the whole world wide pandemic thingy too... There were still way to many unanswered questions at that point...

You better find another stadium and another team to cheer for, because wherever we go, and it’s most likely we stay at hard rock anyway, but even if we change stadiums it’s never going to be a small town college experience. This is Miami. Not Oxford Mississippi or shlthole Gainesville.

The people that pay the money for season tickets want an upgraded experience. They don’t care about you wanting a small town atmosphere. They laugh at people like you. You don’t pay the bills. The big money people and the season ticket holders do.

You must be 5 years old if you believe any serious % of 60,000 fans would be using Metrorail. Maybe a few fans that live near a Metrorail station. Parking limitations = a HUGE problem. The OB was situated in a residential neighborhood and people could park in residential driveways (no blockie etc). Right now the only viable location IS Hard Rock. UM is apparently going to evaluate the Mas Brothers proposed soccer stadium at Melreese. Only way THAT works is WITH PARKING for stadium capacity and the capacity needs to be 60,000 or don't bother. Not with the investment UM is putting on staff, facilities, and building a competitive program.

I doubt Melreese happens for a stadium... too close to the airport... FAA will have major issues with something of that size being built next to the airport... I mean anything is possible but that one will have major headaches attached to it...

Do a simple comparison on Google maps from 33458 to Miami International Airport. 1 hr 43 minutes by car, 4 hours by transit.
