The U says ticket sales are growing this year and plan to cap season ticket sales at 40,000. If we are getting 40,000 now, what might we get if we start competing for the CFPs? Driving to & from Freedom Park for a game would be worse than Hard Rock, IMO. Why build one there for us when all we would be doing is driving to a different stadium for the games…and in much worse traffic? Hard Rock is a Super Bowl stadium and will likely be kept up to date so it remains that way.

CIty of Miami is asking Beckham and Mas family to formally open dialogue with University of Miami regarding the possibility of including them in the new Miami Freedom stadium deal. Instead of a 30k seating stadium, something much larger that can house football games and make the stadium a multi-purpose facility that could host other large events as well, not just soccer.
finally...and it should be downtown.

48k would be the right capacity. College attendance has been going down year over year. If we share with them we HAVE to have some input into the design.
100% agree with you about the design. It needs to feel like our stadium. The Dolphins could have easily gone with orange as a neutral color but they basically said F off y’all just renting lol

Do you really want to continue playing in a half-empty, sterile stadium built on sacred Tequesta burial ground 25 miles from campus?
Don’t know why some people are hung up on distance to campus. Miami enrollment is like 16k and the students show up by the hundreds, not thousands.

Not to mention a ton of people at the games come from Broward and Palm Beach. Hard Rock is perfect for them.

If that matters to you ok I get it. You worry about the perception or what others think of you. I don’t personally don’t.

I’d rather be winning and dominating football and the size of the stadium is the least of my concerns in the grand scheme of things.

For reference Hard Rock is smaller than Doak and Florida and they already “make fun of us “ for not having our own stadium. Orange bowl held less than those stadiums also…If all they can say at the end of the day is your stadium is smaller than ours who cares?

Freedom stadium is going to feel like a Miami FC stadium.
Like I said, I trust the billionaires that care deeply about Miami to figure out the design. If the investment is there it’s going to be dope. If they penny pinch which I doubt they will it will be mid grade. I understand people’s reservations though.

Looks like Charlotte, NE and Chicago all use NFL stadiums. Was trying to see if there was a newer soccer stadium sharing with a college football team.
Blank owns both teams, so that’s why they share. I think it’ll be difficult to do both at a stadium built specifically for soccer. It’s easier to put soccer in a mixed use stadium.

I said from the jump, when Blake was trying to spin it like it was a mutual benefit for the reno of HRS, that Ross said a giant “F U” to us w/ those aqua seats. He clearly was making it known that was for him, his team, & future events to line his pockets. I know Pitt & The Steelers share the same stadium, but they literally have a sister relationship w/ The Panthers as the facilities are a co-op & the seating matches both team’s secondary colors. Even the famed 2017 HRS game, didn’t look like a home game vs. a neutral site game, no different than when UT or OU plays a big opponent & utilizes AT&T Stadium.

Imo, Ross has disrespected us as tenants for a minute.

They may be closer, but the football field is still significantly further away. Soccer fields are over 60 feet wider than American football fields. Add to that fact that you have to account for sideline accommodations like benches and so forth, and there’s no way that you can get the seats closer for American football. I’m not sure if I’m making sense here but that’s how I visualize it.

I guess if the idea was to build something for both FC and Hurricanes from the very beginning then I would be more optimistic. However, to do this because a politician randomly (whether that was on planned or not) brought this idea up, is questionable. Ruiz’s idea ***** on this one. Tropical park ***** on this one. Plus, can that area hold 50k? I doubt it.

You're telling the truth. Orange seats should have been the color of choice, but they went with those hideous seats instead.

As soon as it becomes a soccer stadium you'll have people complaining about the seats being too far, especially the upper decks.

People recruit against us by saying we don't have an on campus stadium and have to rent. Our counter has been that we play in a stadium that hosts Super Bowls. If we don't get this right, they'll recruit against us by saying we don't have an on campus stadium and have to play in a soccer stadium.

I’ll be the first to say I’m fine with playing at Hard Rock. If we get our own stadium and it’s not on “campus” they’ll still be saying you don’t have an on campus stadium… or our stadium is biggr than yours. It will be never ending imo.
