You’re dam right it matters. You want to be lumped up with a bunch of scrub teams. Our rivals would LOL at us for centuries.

Intersted in knowing which private universities around the country have their own 70k seat stadiums for football? Off the top, I don't think it'd be such a bad idea to have a 40k seat stadium closer to campus for most games and switch over to Joe Robbie Stadium (60k+) for the big games.

I’m curious. Can anyone name a P5 school that’s either made the playoffs or played or won an NC that plays in a soccer stadium?

Do you think the soccer stadium would ever get the NC game like Hard Rock currently does?

The newer stadiums don’t do that. I’ve been to many soccer stadiums and some of them are quite close to the pitch.

However I do agree with you on the other issues.

They may be closer, but the football field is still significantly further away. Soccer fields are over 60 feet wider than American football fields. Add to that fact that you have to account for sideline accommodations like benches and so forth, and there’s no way that you can get the seats closer for American football. I’m not sure if I’m making sense here but that’s how I visualize it.

If that matters to you ok I get it. You worry about the perception or what others think of you. I don’t personally don’t.

I’d rather be winning and dominating football and the size of the stadium is the least of my concerns in the grand scheme of things.

For reference Hard Rock is smaller than Doak and Florida and they already “make fun of us “ for not having our own stadium. Orange bowl held less than those stadiums also…If all they can say at the end of the day is your stadium is smaller than ours who cares?

I urge you all to look up Baylor’s stadium before you come in with the notion of needing a big stadium. 45-50k seats is literally all we need and all we can consistently fill. Miami doesn’t have the student body to have some 70k capacity stadium. With a great architect you can create a loud incredible fan experience. If they can, get it done!

People will always complain about parking and logistics of getting in and out of a stadium. The times I’ve been to hard rock it’s been amazing once I’m there but the before and after it’s a nightmare. I can’t understand why anyone would be against this. If we have the backing of numerous billionaires, I promise you they aren’t going to half-*** this thing. Mas Brothers, Beckham and if they let Ruiz in would create a state of the art facility 20 minutes less than 6 miles from campus.

Operation get out of Hard Rock! Closest thing to an on campus stadium that we will ever have. Sign me up!

Did you just compare doak and the swamp to a stadium that hosts the Super Bowl and NC Games.

LOL wow!!

The only time I’ve ever had problems getting out of Hard Rock was during a Monday Night Dolphins game. I mean it’s easily one of the smoothest places to get in and out of.

London is very different from Miami. 99% of our attendance arrives via personal vehicle. I would guess that 70% or more of Chelsea fans arrive via public transportation or other alternative transportation methods.
I think you're being very conservative with that estimate.

I'd venture it's much higher.

The only time I’ve had issues getting in and out was at rolling loud. The biggest problem for me is driving all the way up there from Miami and then driving back. Both were a major buzz kill.

Baylor stadium is in fact 45K but expandable to 55K…Canes would need 50-55K and expandable for 60-65K for the marquee games..

All this BS talk to play in a 25K stadium is ridiculous.

And Minnesota new stadium holds about 51k and can be expanded

I thought we had a thread talking about all these smaller stadiums?

Do you really want to continue playing in a half-empty, sterile stadium built on sacred Tequesta burial ground 25 miles from campus?
I’ve been a season ticket holder for more than 42 years and I’ve seen our team win multiple NC’s in a half empty stadium. Are you new too all this?

I know you’re not but it sounded funny.

My father is a life long Chargers fan. When the Chargers were playing at the Stub Hub Center (now Dignity Health Sports Park), we caught a couple of games there since it was down the street.

I’ve been to mucho football games, & it felt weird af at that soccer stadium. The dimensions were just weird. I thought seeing SC at The Coliseum b4 the reno felt far away, sitting at a soccer stadium trying to watch a football game felt like I was in another city watching w/ binoculars.

Also, we couldn’t really get loud. It didn’t feel like a home game for The Chargers; the fans had zero effect. I’m all in on Miami getting their own stadium, but not a soccer field. Either our own or stay at HR.

Yes. HR is an amazing stadium and next year will begin a huge home field advantage.

Don't think many in here clamoring for a 50k soccer stadium have gone to many other football stadiums and certainly haven't ever been remotely close to a soccer stadium if they are actually advocating for this.

48k would be the right capacity. College attendance has been going down year over year. If we share with them we HAVE to have some input into the design.
