Pg Q Article: Al Golden's Clock is Ticking

1-22?

ONE WIN IN TWENTY-THREE ATTEMPTS?

I don't know how any self-respecting AD doesn't read that and fire him on the spot.

I find it a comfort that others are finally reaching the same conclusions some of us reached after Golden's first three games at UM.

And putting it out.

I support Golden and there is a lot of good and bad in that article, but one thing is clear, he brought the current mess on himself.
- Not the loss -- we will lose games again, some will be ugly -- it happens
- Not the cherry picking stats for him or against him -- stats are almost always misused to show favor it one direction or another
- Not the flirting with PSU --- his alma mater - most can understand this

But the aftermath of the PSU issue is all on him.
- Lack of response
- Lack of energy
- Lack of enthusiasm

Further frustrations:
- Some recruits will decommit and used this time to do it.
- Keeping continuity of the staff may or may not be the best move and he may be waiting for D to get a job elsewhere.

I may not like it, but I can wrap my head around it.

Recommendation:
He needs to reenergize himself and the program right now.

Sure, many will say it is coach speak, used car salesman, fool me once, etc. etc., but it does not matter because he needs to light a spark. Right now. In fairness to the players on the team, that like the seniors, committed to the school and the team and stood by it through the NCAA mess. Those players deserve the loyalty of the process to have a chance to be excited and be great.

If he doesn't get things recharged, he faces a rough end of the recruiting season, a really critical and unforgiving fan base heading into the Spring game and a potentially hostile summer and fall camp.

Question:
Will he answer the bell?

Whether we want to believe it or not..Golden did indeed inherit some talent. Even though they all left him hot, high, and dry after one year..he still had them. Forston knew what he was doing by leaving early. He saw the scheme and knew that it was not going to benefit him at all to stay and play under it. There was talent on that 2011 team that went 6-6.

Forston played in like 3 games and plays in the same scheme in New England.

lmao how DARE you call D'Onofrio's scheme and Bilichecks the same LOL Da Fuuuugggg

Get this fat mother ******* loser out of my face.

What people, and seemingly bright people at that, don't seem to understand is that the easy thing to do is for Golden to fire D'onforio.
As if that's the most prudent thing to do..
It's not. It's the cowards way out. Just like when Coker fired half his staff after the LSU loss and Shannon firing seemingly good coordinators sans Nix. Above all it shows a sign of desperation and caving in. Golden is not about that. He's weathered storms before. Just like other good coaches have. Look at D'ontonio at Michigan St. Folks were calling for his DC & friend Narduzzi after 3 years there. I'm sure they are all grateful now that he didn't.
Facts are D'onforio inherited a crappy situation.. For Vinush to say differently is a crock of crap. People mistaken inheriting a handful of NFL free agents his 1st year who left the team early as inheriting talent and a good situation.. It's not. Especially when the best of the bunch, Vernon, played only 6 games because of his suspension. Other key guys like Forston and Buchannon were injured early and lost for the season. Ray Ray was also suspended for 4 games. D'onoforio had to start 2 true freshman in Perryman and Chickillo, who weight 245 at the time.. On top of that SHannon's shoddy *** recruiting in 2010 left very little depth in terms of quality players. So basically this rebuild job he was faced with was from scratch.
Now tell me in what kind of right mind is AL GOLDEN going to fire D'onforio, who he's had success with in past, when he was faced with all this?
You can't. For better or for worse AL GOLDEN has to stick with D'onofrio and work through the issues together. If they fail so be it.
Like the previous 2 HC's showed firing your staff doesn't necessarily work out for the better. If anything it shows weakness and lack of backbone to cave to public pressure. It's time we have a coach that basically gives this fan base the middle finger and tells them to deal with it .

Wow. Really? Good coaches change thigs that don't work. Good coaches upgrade staff when possible. Good coaches do not put their fiends above the team, good coaches might have steadfastness, but that is not the same as stubborn pride, which is the nicest possible description of Al's insistance on this horrible defense and his blind eye view of it getting better. I agree about one thing, firing Mark doesn't fix the problem, because the problem is Al's passive defense. We have no clue if Mark can coach something else with more success. Still he must be fired and a new DC brought in to install a NEW more aggressive defense -- not Al's. Art has been with THE U for all 5 NCs and coached some super olines. The last three years, the oline has not performed up to expectations, despite being the unit with the best talent. Is that Art fault? Maybe he got old and lost it. Or maybe he has to coach Al's way. Art never rotated linemen like Al likes it. That is Al's way.

Al tells us nothing goes on that he is not invoved in. At first it sounded like a way to defend Mark, now I beleive him. He looks more and more like a mircomanager and not the CEO we thought. If you are going to micromanage, you need to really no each task and funtion. Al was an overachiever at PSU, a gym rat, who didn;t make the traveling squad, I think he said, until senior year. That sounds like a hard working, determined guy. Nice, but it doesn't sound like he was very good. Personally I am a slacker, who puts off everything until the last minute, crammed for exams, skipped class, and is always unprepared. Those are not good characteristics. BUT I got almost all As, graduated with my Doctorate at 24 years old, while working full time from 10th grade. Why, because it was easy for me and my brain is like a 4.2 forty guy. You can work your sorry little rear end off until the cows come home, but I am going to end up beating you to a pulp anyway. Al needs stop falling in love with players that remind him of himself, learn to get the heck out of the way, and LET THE BIG DOGS HUNT.

I'm happy with goldens tenure so far. I'm confident he'll continue to improve as will the roster.

Its a retarded cousin of it. **** I even saw NE line up an OLB/DE on a TE out wide in man to man over the weekend. Of course the NE player was capable of doing it while Shayon can barely run.

I'll take the "retarded cousin" version angle... at first I was like "huh?"

Spot on and quite frankly irrefutable. Lmao at those desperately trying to.

The fact Golden decided to retain one of the worst DC's statistically shows where the state of the program falls on his list priorities.

Golden came in here knowing the standard & expectations that come with coaching Miami Hurricanes football. And the trash product that's limped to the finish line we've seen 3 years running ain't cutting it. ACCCG or GTFO. And for ****'s sake BEAT FSU. Even Shannon managed to do that.

400 page binder and he has no answer for a team with less than 5 losses. Worst game day coach since the program rose to prominence.

Golden is more showman than head coach. The pillars, the sayings, the yard sticks, all of it is a show to make up for his lack of football acumen. The guy just can't coach. Try as he may, he just doesn't have it in him. At least not on the big stage. He's perfect for a MAC team with low expectations.

This state should instantly end any debate.

Talent it one thing but mentality is a whole nother story. Al did not inherit kids with the right mentality. Highsmith said it all the day after the bowl game tweeting "finally it's over"

LULZ at the culture still being a problem 3 years later. After 3 recruiting classes at least 80% of the roster should be BFP Golden's guys. And it would have been if such a huge percentage of his recruits didn't get kicked out or quit. One of the biggest indictments on Golden is that in his 3rd year here he was still relying mostly on Shannon's guys because his own guys aren't good enough to beat them out.

The myth of him being a talent infuser and culture changer is crushed dead like a ****roach.
