Petrino to be Jimbo's OC

Imagine a recruit and his parents sitting across the table from those three guys.

Are they going to believe a single word that comes out of their sleazy mouths?
They'll lean into it.

You see, a recruit knows not to trust a word that they say.

These coaches know the same.

So here's the pitch.

"You know, I can't see your son putting on this here A&M uniform. He's too slow. Too dumb. Heck, he's not even handsome enough to grace the cover of an Aggie program. He lacks the speed, he's missing that ol' desire to win. And he's lazy. No sir, he's not getting an offer. And if there was, it would come with a tiny NIL. Maybe from World Championship Wrestling or Atari."

A recruit and his parents hear this and can then immediately think, Wow, they really think highly of me. I'm fast, smart, and they want me on the cover of their program. They think I'm a winner. A grinder. I've got a committable offer right now! And WWE and Nintendo are going to sign me up to an eight figure NIL! Where do I sign?!

Except they’ll be hearing that same sweet song from other schools too. It’s not the SEC anymore with the advent of NIL.
Except at A&M it's

Petrino's offenses can score. Had Arkansas rolling. Just made next years game a lot more difficult.
Amen, Petrino has massive baggage but he can make an offense go..................
he is also excellent at taking the skill sets of group and adjust the offense to fit the players skills
no square peg into round whole approach........
not sure where and what CMC wants to do on offense ? wonder if CMC watched playoffs ???

In the world of legal bags/NIL, i doubt this matters as much as it once did. As long as checks are clearing, games are being broadcast on primetime tv, and promises of NFL futures, parents/kids probably don't really care about coach integrity. That world doesn't really exist much in the world of college football, **** sports in general (except for a few individuals) anymore.

He reportedly gave up playcalling duties. Sure he was forced by A&M/Donors to do so.

A little shocked they couldn't pull TCUs OC. Gives me a shot of hope in the arm...

IMO Petrino was the #1 choice. Before he accepted the other OC job, there were multiple reports of him already in talks with A&M about the OC position. The talks may have been prolonged over how much control he would have.

I think the coast is clear to call Art Briles now
Nah. Art Briles is still persona non-grata in the cfb world. While Bobby Petrino was seen as a sleezebag for his extramarital affair(s) and lying about it, Briles overlooked multiple sexual assaults/rapes committed by members of his football team. Last thing any of us fans would want is the sh*tstorm of controversy and Title 9 related mess that would come to Miami from Mario hiring him to be part of his staff.

I could imagine the students of a college taking umbrage to a Briles hire. There would presumably be protests the moment it was announced. Perhaps picketing of the athletic facility.
