Perfect candidate for an Oregon copycat

Oregon is 34-6 under Chip Kelly & has played in a National Championship & a couple of Rose Bowls & has consistently been in the top 10. So yea their a powerhouse by today's standards
How many national titles have they won? How many times has their Spread offense gotten bytch-slapped on national TV by solid defenses, and opposing offenses who run a pro-style and know how to control time of possession? Last year's Rose Bowl win was their first in 95 years. Miami had won more Rose Bowls in that time span, and wasn't even eligible to play there until the BCS.

You can't quote the good about Oregon's success and leave out the bad. Doesn't work that way.

At the end of the day, your theory of running the spread at Miami won't stand up. Give it up. If there are players/coaches in South Florida complaining that Miami doesn't run a spread, then they need to either lift more weights or go to school elsewhere. Once we build ourselves back up with the right guys running a pro-style offense, it will run circles around a spread offense...AND we'll still put more solid offensive players in the league than the Ducks.

well God **** nice post

So build ourselves back the right way? Like we've been doing for 11years. Only problem is we're trying to build a SEC team with a recruiting base that basically only runs spread in HS & doesn't lift weights. We can't win recruiting battles with the SEC for the big guys up front anymore so we better find a way to create our own advantage.

Lies

You're so Cokerized the only logical conclusion you can come up with as to why we've fallen off is

A) uniforms
B) So Fla kids don't lift weights

All about defense at Miami.

We could run anything offensively with the So Fla talent and be successful.
We've proven that.

This is the answer we're searching for. If we have a competent pro style qb, our offense can put up plenty of points with SF skill players.

Every year more and more elite recruits talk about avoiding the spread offense because it doesn't get you ready for the NFL.

Could the spread work here? Of course, but he careful what you wish for. Grass ain't always greener.

I say no thanks. Keep us NFL U just do a better job evaluating and recruiting the guys we need.

Spread National Champs:
Auburn
Texas (VY)
Florida twice
& btw Oregon was a FG away
There are 5 teams in the modern era of college football who won national titles with a pro-style offense. The years were 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001. Guess the team.

all these kinds of threads are going to disappear once al gets it right.... can't wait for the season opener..

This guy gets it.

Pretty simple to look back at these last years and say "wasn't there a better way?"

Would there have been any difference in the results the last few years if we ran the spread under Shannon and Coker?

Hint: No.

Give me good coaching and good recruiting and we'll be just fine. We're well on our way, IMO.

all the spread winners also had the ability to line up and run their qb at the opposing team that provided a power element to their running games as well, don't underestimate the ability to line up and get the tough yards in the clutch moments

Sorry my fault for suggesting an idea that could possibly put 40-50 points on the scoreboard every game. Or imaging a way to possibly have Duke, Alex, & Sony all on the field at once. I just wonder if thats really they way u feel when your quick to turn on that Oregon game...too fast, too explosive, too many playmakers running around. Too many defensive players faking injuries(cuz that wouldn't be an advantage in sofla heat). I didn't say I wanted their defense.
