For the life of me, i don’t understand the LSU infatuation. It’d be one thing if his dad went to LSU. I understand the legacy thing. its none of that. His dad grew up as an lsu fan from that area thats it. LSU is a top flight program , that sends kids to the nfl. If i moved to buffalo, ny my kid still would be a Hurricane fan. You are correct. The rule went into effect shortly after we hired Cooney if I remember correctly.

He went college to college, the rule is if you coach the person in high school, a college can't hire them after any of their players sign with said college.

This. A recruit's dad being hired on as an on-field coach is not against the rules. If a staff wants to use up one of those spots to secure a kid, then that's on them. The rules curtain what happened with Devin Bush Jr. (Michigan) who's dad got a position that wasn't on-field.
