CIS saw the state of the OL in December and knew it was a big weakness. 2 OL gurus saw it and chose to bring in two cultural fits from Oregon instead of reinforcing the leaky dam…

7 wins would be **** poor. He flipped the roster…
It's the state of the roster full stop.

As I always say - on the Panthers board I'm a known Canes fan and asked to recommend NFL prospects come Draft time. It's been lean pickings for at least 5 years.

We've been awful for a long time, it's not a quick fix.

His 5 of 6 were to
10-4 LSU
11-2 Bama
7-6 Arkansas (road game)
9-4 Miss St (rivalry game 2 pt loss)
8-5 Texas Tech (bowl game)

All P5 teams over .500, and really the only egregious loss is the Arkansas game. And even that has a mitigating circumstance if we are in the excuse making business like seems to be the case when it comes to Cristobal. Ole Miss was coming off a 6 pt loss to Bama (a phenomenal effort given the talent disparity ) and the team was mentally and physically exhausted. It's happened to a lot of teams after playing Bama.
So basically he can't beat good teams?

I'm actually not too too concerned with recruiting as I might make it seem. Like I said before, I'll give it to August before I even slightly panic. What's most important to me is how Mario has this team looking during the season. And not even just about wins and losses. How are we going to look. Are we going to be prepared? Will we get any blowouts? Will we get blown out?? Will mid game adjustments be made?
Yep...not going to even lie to y'all boys. It's now August 5th.... fspoo and ufag are both in the top 5. And we are??? yeah I don't even want to say it. Panic mode has set in. I apologize now if my mopey side takes over and gets annoying.

I never viewed Mario as being the right hire for the old way of doing things, which is to try and ball on a budget. For that, I wanted Lane Kiffin. But Miami assured us this was gonna be a huge investment, a total program rebuild, and for that I can understand the trust they have for Mario. That said, after the worst Miami season since Randy Shannon, I think their investment is going up in smoke, and in my opinion they need to double down on bags for recruits. It's the only way it works going forward.
After one year! Kiffin isn't a program builder but you can have him just not here!

I understand and said the same thing in the past… now I’m here to remind everyone it’s never been OK before and they’ve changed their tune for Mario… if Lane was hired and went 5-7 the MariBro crew would be back to “I knew everything I needed to know during the ____game”, burn it down, and if you don’t you hate Miami

But now, it’s just be patient guys…

Last year’s class was a major building block. Added some tremendous talent on OL. Needs to build on that now & close super strong with elite DL prospects. Has to re-energize the major NIL contributors & make it impossible for Franklin, Breland, Simmons, and Stewart to go elsewhere. Needs to get at least 2-3 of those. Hugely important for the trajectory of this program.

Needs to win big this year. Play to win every game. We won’t win every game but we need to stop being conservative & tear it up. There is a path with a highly improved OL and a good new OC which should let TVD absolutely cook.

Let the coordinators dictate their respective sides of the ball. Mario has already shared his philosophy (which the coaches understand well). Now let them run their respective sides of the ball.

Talent acquisition will be the single biggest determinant of Mario’s success from here on out. He has to absolutely crush it from here to signing day & reel in some elite talent (another 5-6 absolute studs).

So now we are praying to end up where Diaz left us, at 7-5. 2 years later and $80M poorer to end up back to square one.
I get the point... but I think if Mario goes 7-5 or 8-4, he will turn it into something much more sustainable. It will be a long and grueling walk back to the top. Something like a
2022: 5-7
2023: 8-5
2024: 10-3
2025: 10-4
2026: 12-2
Type of thing. That's just how I see it playing out right now. And I'm okay with that honestly. As long as the embarrassments end. This doesn't take in to account what happens with realignment or NIL/Portal.
