Our Safeties: biggest problem on this team.

Definitely a scary depth chart at S but we can still look the JuCo route, which is easier said than done. There is usually some good safety prospects in those ranks.

Question??? Please feel free to answer. Can anyone tell me who some of these DB's are that we have on our roster, such as Hugo Delapenha (SR), Jordan Tolson (RS SO), Ken Jackson (RS FR), Robert Wright (RS FR)? Please give me some back ground on these guys please? I dont hear about them, they haven't done anything special obviously, so why are they on the team. Was it just a roster fill? your insight on this please.

We have 14 total DB's currently on the team. Well make that 13 with Armbrister being moved to LB. 4 SR will be gone next year, 4 JR, 2 SO, 2 current FR and 7 incoming FR. Next year we will have a total of 15 but you can omit 4 of them due to the fact they are making no kind of splash. So make that 11 we should have some one bust out of the group and play safety if they want to play early. If Bush can get more reps at Safety why wouldnt he play there? thats a no brainer... He can always move back to CB later on.

When I watch film on VT I just don't understand how he never got better from the time he arrived. **** he looks better in his HS tape. He put on some weight but I don't see how that would contribute so much to his regression.

Weird thing is when you watch some of his high school stuff, he is rangy and quick looking. He looked a little bit like a slight downgrade from Kenny Phillips.

No idea who this VT is anymore.

I would assume that those guys are walk ons

I never was big on VT's high school footage. Didn't look fast, quick, physical...with the lack of physicality the key one to me. If a guy is a high school safety or LB and he looks finesse then what's going to happen when he gets to college and the guys are bigger, faster and meaner? VT misses so many tackles cause he dives at feet instead of trying to properly wrap up ball carriers its had me wanting someone else to start for two years now. And then the new staff wanted him to cover more ground as a lone safety back there at times...just exposed some more of his weaknesses with that.

am I reading this correctly.. folks are down on chickillo because he wasn't a one man wrecking crew his freshman year?

Agree that VT seems to be another kid that has seemingly regressed since he has been here. Kid should lose some weight if that's what slowed him down.

I don't think VT regressed. I think the expectations increased but the play stayed the same. He was solid as a freshman- didn't make many mistake, but didn't make any plays either. As a 2nd year starter people were expecting some big plays to come. They didn't. And his tackling issues became more evident. As a 3rd YR starter people expected big things (I wasn't, but people who thought he still might be good were) and he was who he was, but the new defense asked him to cover more ground than the previous one and he's slow and it became clear just how slow he was (same with Ray Ray). he's still that same player who's not a sound tackler, who doesn't make many mistakes, but doesn't make many plays either. He's on the slow side so he's physically limited in what he can do. he is who he is.
