OT: James Coley demoted

UGA hired a guy that they figure can help make their talent on offense better, who cares how many times he was fired in the NFL, this is CFB.. Getting a NFL guy on a college staff is a good thing in my eyes, because these player's are trying to get there and he becomes the person when he speaks the player's pay attention and listen.. Kirby taking a page out of Coach O playbook, hiring a NFL guy!!!!
***LSU hired a former NFL OC and they probably had the best offensive performance in CFB history***
Hiring NFL doesn't mean anything.

Coley is a good dude to have on your staff b/c of his recruiting abilities. He's a ****** coach. Kirby w's smart to keep him on the staff just for that reason. His title is Polly a smoke screen at this point.

Manny and his co-bich Blake James need to follow suit. Add some stronger recruiters to the staff. Chit add some better football people period. I'm starting to think that Blake James is the one who line up Diaz's beard these ***** to close.... he got real close to get straight edge and boom a kiss..he just kept going and seeing he had the same goggles dental hygienist wear he meant to do it. He didn't need to be that close.

Kirby Smart is clearly action oriented.
Think he is a couple years late but I guess argument can be made they were a couple plays away from a championship win. Better late than never or being ego driven to die on bro style barren mountain

From the mind of Google Glass Coley...

This was a good play man!

The ball was under-thrown! We had a man headed to the endzone on that play.

This is the primary problem with most fans on this site-- lack of football IQ....

You can't even recognize what's happening on a play even with a video right in front of you....

You only see the outcome-- but can't see what was happening with the play that created the outcome.

Quite arguably the worst play call in recent school history...

At least a neck & neck tie with Richt's Onside Kick vs UVA.

agreed.

but worst in 'canes history was third and goal for the 1986 national championship in the fiesta bowl.

if gary stevens burns in **** for all of eternity, it won't be long enough.

I believe the point is that given the situation, at the very least, the likelihood of an errant throw was pretty high.

Curby: Jimmy, you ain't callin' plays anymore.

Coley: Check with me.

Curby: I just did.

Coley: Check with me! There's 3 seconds on the playclock!

Curby: I ain't got time for this. It's dumplin' night at Cracker Barrel. You're demoted.

Coley: Dale, bro! Dale? No? Daleeee? Ay dios mio! I just bought a boat.

<end scene>

At least they ain't looking to some moderately experienced lower level guy. The objective of any organization, that is hiring for any position, is to hire the most successful and experienced guy available. Canes don't follow this process and the results continue show they are idiots.

That is traditional thinking, but an over generalization. Sometimes you seek the candidate who brings something new and different to the table. That person has quite probably shown some success before, but is likely far from the most experienced available and probably doesn't have the most success, depending on how you want to quantify that.

Basically that is what LSU just did with Brady. But I'm not saying this strategy always works. It doesn't. Neither does the one you discuss.

It COULD HAVE been a good play because the WR was open behind the defense.

But then you factor in the fact that you’re asking a RB who grew up in Miami to make his first throw with the game on the line when it’s SNOWING...and well, it doesn’t have the greatest odds is succeeding.

Let’s try to bring him in as a receiver coach or passing game coordinator. Guy is a monster recruiter
